The No.1 mk3 was a craftsman built rifle, its bedding was adjustable via a series of springs so it could be tuned by the individual, the No.4 was designed for mass production.. and it is superior, there are a few things to watch out for on both weapons, never ever chop the forend down on a number 4, the bushing under the nosecap is critical for accuracy...

Appreciate you putting in the effort by posting the detailed process narratives, camera angles, lighting, etc. Very informative! Have both an M95 and Carcano on the way to take a crack at resto myself. Definitely concur with your own views: Have an Australian Enfield SMLE a friend restored a decade ago that I've had since I was a kid and I love the new look! All the best, keep the videos coming- really appreciate them.

I think you do great work and I understand it's ur rifle u do what u want . personally I feel polishing the metal up to the point of mirror finish really takes away from the rifles history and don't make it look antique and correct .

What did you end up using as a protective coating on the wood? I’ve used Tung Oil or BLO for most of mine.

Hi, thank you very much for the video, just got my enfield from RTI and starting the project. Unfortunately I can't find a decent video that shows a full disassembly of the rifle, what did you use for reference? It would be sooo cool if you'd post the full video about this process, I am putting yours on pause and trying to catch what you were doing in the speeded up section of this video here, it's a pain 🙂

Can you do a more expository video on this carbine? Is the bolt mismatched? For some reason (trying to figure out why), many 1952-dated M44s show obvious signs of use and will often have mismatched bolts. Other years (1951, 1953-1955) are typically pristine or near pristine.

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see you lifting the dents out of the stock before applying BLO. I used to do that by getting an old wash cloth thoroughly damp with water, then laying the cloth over a dent or a couple of dents that are very close together and then taking a hot clothes iron to the cloth. Using the pointed end on the cloth is best. Just takes a few seconds and it steams the wood in the dent and lifts the dent out. It doesn't work so great on dents where the wood fibers are obviously cut, just plain dents. That works great and then you can do your sanding as described, then the BLO.

do you have to stain the wood after sanding?

Staple pin plates (1inch long by 1/4inch wide and round on each side of each of the mini plate) down the crack on each side Blue em black or paint em 3 or 4... Maybe 5🤣 Only Thing I would have done different ❤️ Nice work

I made my own purchase of the same exact model of rifle a week or so ago. I’ve only begun to disassemble everything and start to clean the wood. I’m going to watch your video and take some pointers from this!

I really like how the metal came out!! I watched the k98k video last night. Do you use the rust blueing method and if so how many treatments did you do. It came out really nice. This did to! Great job! I love old guns!!

RTI definitely sent you one of the best rifles they had! I have seen quite a few and this is not how they look to start. They are in much worse shape and missing original parts and parts in general.
