I have dabbled with Gundam animes but have been big into TCGs for 30 years. It's neat to see folks on the opposite of that spectrum Bandai TCGs have always looked interesting to me, but I just wasn't into the IPs. I like how the gameplay looks, and some of the foil cards previewed look incredible! I hope they are not too difficult to get

Nice! I only really ever played DBZ and YuGiOh heavily. That Star Wats card game had a similar play style as the DBZ one. I definitely only go for IPs that I like before I consider the game.

My personal opinion as to who the best Char Clone is would be Rau Le Cruset from Gundam SEED. The man is charismatic, intelligent, and a master manipulator. His motivation is understandable, he's a threat, ruthless, and he's a foil to the protagonist. Kira believed that most people are good and worth saving, meanwhile Rau believed no one is good and that humans should go extinct. As for Prospera, I think she is a decent Char Clone. While she's no ace pilot, she is still threatening. She's greatly intelligent, a master at manipulation, and borderline sociopathic. We understand her motivation and are somewhat sympathetic towards her, but we still want to see her stopped since she is absolutely deranged. She also plays perfectly well with the show's theme of child and parental relationships. She obsesses over her daughter and doesn't really care for her other 'daughter' (Suletta), because Eri was the first, and she's willing to sabotage the world all for Eri. Never underestimate a mother's love, because some of them throw morals and rational out the window.

Have you tried 2 or more piece thermo plastic molds. Then, drilling the vent holes to allow excess drainage under compression. Then, compressing the mold with a vice, remove and secure with a G clamp until set. Clean up excess. Thermo plastic molds can last longer than silicone and be recycled a few times before the plastic degrades. Don't forget to use a mold release.

Some imperfections and mistakes add a level of character I don't think you'd get otherwise in your creations. Are you talking about the wires soldered to the smaller coil? That was just scrap wire recycled from a charging cable. If you’re talking about the actual copper induction ring, I bought the whole induction kit on Amazon. They’re pretty inexpensive and the hard work is already done for you.

I rather like the Barbatos. It's very unique an aggressive, almost animalistic. Maybe it would have been better for an original series rather than Gundam. Not really practical, but it is quite striking and remarkable. Where is my boy, the Turn A? Very unique in a different way than the Barby. The cockpit being on the crotch is a pretty funny visual gag. Is it the only Gundam that doesn't have a backpack?

I agree about the new generation of designers compared to the old generation. As a Macross fan, I know that Kawamori studied engineering in uni so he had a very strong base of knowledge of real world machines. Obviously he loves the F-14, but he also incorporates a lot of design ideas from racing cars. Fighter jets and race cars, it's no surprise he excels in designing fast and sleek mecha. A lot of modern mecha look like they were designed by people who probably know more about mecha than real military machines. Maybe that's why I gravitate to the more plain and functional designs of the 80s. I'm not really a fan of really busy mecha designs with a ton of stuff hanging off its back or random spikes everywhere. P.S. The one time he designed MS's for Gundam, he didn't design any transforming suits. It's strange. With how weird and awkward transforming machines in Gundam tend to look, Sunrise probably should have picked his brain on how to design them.
@fattiger6957
@fattiger6957 Ай бұрын
Okawara loved the Zaku. You can tell because a lot of his designs afterwards looked very much inspired by it. The silver mecha from Panzer World Galient (piloted by the guy who looks just like Chirico Cuvie) looks like a silver Zaku. The mecha in Votoms look like Zaku made even more realistic. I watched a ton of Sunrise mecha series from the 80s recently and you do see Okawara's design philosophy. Villain suits almost never look sleek. They tend to be bulky. Only hero machines get to look sleek and lithe.

Scribing and painting are the two skills I really want to improve. I recently finished my first real custom project, a G3 Gundam that is just multiple shades of grey to be closer to Tomino's original idea for the RX-78. I used an MG 2.0, so it was basically a blank slate to add detail to. I made a few fin-like addons using bread bag clips (learned that from a Zaku Aurelius video) and added some piping-like detail to the backpack by recycling pieces of the runner. As for adding panel lines, I cheated and got some of those scribing templates. But one thing you really need to take note of is making sure both parts are oriented in the same direction when working with mirrored parts. I thought I was done with the model, painted everything, did the finishing matte coat, then I noticed something was off. One of my scribed patterns on the ankle armour was upside down. So I had to strip off the paint from both parts, putty them and I just gave up on scribing those parts out of frustration and just added some pieces of bread clips to them. But I am satisfied with the end result. It isn't perfect. My paint job is not perfectly even (probably because I'm using a cheap portable airbrush instead of a proper compressor) It's a little rough around the edges. But, at the end of the day, it still looks nice on my shelf.

That's the important thing to remember I guess. Nothing is beyond repair, but sometimes you have to be willing to let go of your original vision and embrace something new. And even the top modelers in the world will tell you about the flaws on their amazing works that very few people notice, but to them it's like a needle in their eye. That's part of why I try to be so open about my own flaws (of which there are many) so that people don't make the same mistake I do trying to be "perfect."

I hate when that happens. I get air bubbles in the cast from time to time too. You can definitely patch it with some extra resin and a toothpick or if you have UV resin, sometime that can be easier to work with when you're doing the little patch jobs because you can cure it faster.

I can't say I've rewatched 0079, Zeta and CCA enough to have memorized everything. But the impression I get from Char is that he is someone who had the potential to be a great man who could have done great things for humanity. But constantly seeing the cruelty, greed and callousness of people, along with his own darker nature drove him to lose hope and become cruel himself. If his father wasn't assassinated and Char succeeded him as leader of Side 3, I think Char could have led it to a golden age. But his father was killed and that planted the seeds of resentment and anger so deep inside Char that he could never escape it. I think there were times when he tried to be a better man, like in Zeta and in Char's Deleted Affair, but those ended in tragedy. Or maybe if Lalah survived, she could have steered Char to the light. By CCA, I get the impression that Char didn't even care about leading his new Zeon. He didn't care about Newtypes. He didn't even really care about humanity at all. I think Char just wanted to have a final duel against Amuro and die in the process. Why else would Char leak the psycho frame technology to make it a "fair" fight? He just lost hope for anything and was using everyone just so he could die in a glorious battle against his greatest foe. If CCA was a series or 6-8 episode OVA, they could have done a better job explaining Char's motivation in CCA. Maybe in the novel Tomino based CCA off of (Gundam Highstreamer, which has never been translated to English) there is detail that will help elucidate the question. As it is, CCA leaves many Gundam fans scratching their heads over the inconsistency. Maybe it's different for Japanese fans who can read all the supplemental material.
