On the 6 Decades of Bond, The Royal Mint was upfront at the start that it was a 7 coin series. Moreover, it appears in the 1 oz gold, it is a very small mintage - so small, I think it is only available to those who signed up for the whole series.

Regarding the pricey bit.... they're actually not that bad. I know it sounds a lot but the Coronation Sovs were the same ratio between the half and full Sovs as these. You're only paying around 22/23 pounds more for the half sov than half of a full sov (if that makes sense)...... Full sov price 795... halve that...397 and the half sov is 420 and anything fractional is always more expensive.

Regarding 4:57, the current 22 karat rose gold sovereign alloy composition is 91.67% gold + 8.33% copper. This is exactly the same 22 karat rose gold alloy used in South African Gold Krugerrands which explains why they have the same color as British Gold Sovereigns. On the other hand, American Gold Eagle Coins have a 22 karat gold alloy which has a more golden yellow color than 22 karat rose gold. This is because American Gold Eagle Coins include both silver and copper in its 22 karat gold alloy composition which is 91.67% gold + 5.33% copper + 3% silver. The inclusion of copper in a gold alloy gives it a pinkish hue. The inclusion of silver in a gold alloy gives it a chartreuse hue.

This design appears to be the big hit that we all thought the Memorial should have been. The design on the Memorial was very busy and perhaps difficult to discern on the smaller coins. I think the Mint should come up with a better way to make the booklet. After the normal grand presentation with the box, it’s a shame the booklet is only held together by a tacky staple. Regarding 3:58, if the pure silver sovereign matches the weight of 7.98 grams and diameter of 22.05 mm of the 22 karat gold sovereign coin, then the pure silver sovereign must be expected to be thicker than the 22 karat gold sovereign. This is because the density of pure silver is 10.5 grams per cubic centimeter whereas the density of 22 karat gold is 17.7 grams per cubic centimeter. Therefore by using digital calipers to measure the thickness of the pure silver sovereign compared to the thickness of the 22 karat gold sovereign, their difference in thickness should distinguish them apart as well as their obvious color difference.
@the_islandstacker11 күн бұрын
@@jadenephrite the coin will weight 7.98g with a diameter of 22.05m so yes I would imagine as you say it will be slightly thicker due to metal density

@@the_islandstacker Given that the thickness of a 22 karat gold Sovereign is 1.52 mm, then the calculation using the density of 22 karat gold compared to the density of pure silver is 1.52 mm x 17.7/10.5 = 2.56 mm should be the expected thickness of a pure Silver Sovereign coin.
