The most interesting thing the email said, was that it was the last rose gold sovereign.

Also the shield was going to be a privy on the Silver, which is a nice idea. And hey, another silver coin for them to add the marvelous detail of milkspotting to.

From the email with respect to the Shield Sov (which would ihave Charlie Three on the front) "Collectors will also be able to purchase historic sets that bring together a 2025 Sovereign with a historic 1825 Sovereign featuring the Royal Arms design, as well as a historic set that brings together five Sovereigns struck for His Majesty King Charles III." So is it part of a set? Looks like bullion sovs in the image.

@@dleetr not to sure, but if the other historic sets the mint has put together in the past they will have some stupid price tag that will be most people off, but having a 1825 and 2025 together would be cool.

Adding the minuscule amount of silver and pulling back on the copper (there still is copper in the golden coloured sovs) to the blend won't impact the cost in a noticeable manner. Whether they decided to start charging an higher premium, is up to their level of chutzpah, heh.

@@dleetr it shouldn't change the cost but I'm sure the mint will find a way in saying that means an extra £100 a sovereign 😅

I'm so glad they're doing away with the rose gold sovereign. Hope it goes back to the beautiful, yellowish gold like back in the day. Also, will the silver sovereign be 1oz or will it be the same size and weight of the gold variant?

@@iby914 I think a lot of people are happy about that. For the silver in not too sure would make sense if it was 1oz otherwise would be a small coin of sovereign sized

I much prefere the yellow sovs but that sounds like 2026. I mostly avoid the coppery coins. Older sovs just look nicer to my eye, hopefully the Royal Mint has been listening/evesdropping on what it's customers want :)

Nice to see a new shield sovereign but I’m not a fan of rose gold. I’m going to give this one a miss and see how the new alloy is-I would have snapped up this design if it was yellow gold, what a missed opportunity.

Yes, they should have done the Shield and all the coins in the new alloy. Rather than 'giving them the opportunity to get the "last rose gold Sov". urgh,

I think the only older Sovereign that was mixed with just silver was the 1887 jubilee .. the others just had a mix of copper and silver added .. If you notice they still have the 2024 proof sovereigns for sale... so maybe they will learn from that... and it was reduced mintage ... I'd have to check on the anniversary 25th year thing.. but assuming Charles's portrait isn't on it... it could be unique .. Charles hasn't done himself any favours recently... with regards to backing our P.M ...

@@chrisb.h4605 it will be nice to have a sovereign without the monarchy on it but I don't the mintage will have dropped, I'd still expect 10-15k plus mintage

@@the_islandstacker the 2024 was lower mintage.. but standard design .. and the Memorial took time to sell out.. and hasn't done great! saw one go (PF70) at auction for £530 not so long ago! as for the silver sovereign.. they have already used that (first ever silver sovereign ) gimmick before.. on the £25 silver sovereign coin.. I would imagine the 2025 bullion will be the same design .. as with the crowned 2023 version .. saves them making more dies..

@@the_islandstacker What will be really interesting to see .. is whether they are going to do as they say... and make it the same as the 1825 proof .. because they have been real lazy lately.. and just frosted over the main design.. whereas the frosting on the 1825 is only on the higher relief! and it's a stunner... as for the "rose gold" I think that first came in around year 2000 IRB portrait .. but I know the 2021 seemed extra reddish to me.. makes you wonder what they added to the copper to get that colour.. I wonder.. unless their talking BS .. will they mix platinum with silver to get the right dimensions on the "silver Sovereign" ...

Like the design but not the fact another special. Won't be buying the silver version feel that's more for the USA as for any price hike I think not the mint have priced the proof sovereigns out of the market as you can still buy 2023,2024 sets what does that say

@@ianbird7444 agree the design is nice but after so many "special" designs it's a bit much. Tbh I don't think the mint will even care that the others are still for sale and will still hike the price, will just show they are just money grabbers

I believe it was 2000, Lawrence from Chards has done some deep dives into it... I much prefere the yellow sovs :)
