One of the most powerful scenes by Larry Hagman on the series. Raw emotion just came through in this scene, no words even spoken.

Such a powerful moving and heartfelt scene especially watching it now knowing that Larry, Barbara and Ken are also now all deceased. The emotion captured in this scene is real because Jim Davis had actually just passed away at that time

All of the Ewing brothers were unshaven. It emphasizes how ragged they were after unsuccessful search for Jock.

The name of the composer is Bruce Broughton. One of his specialties is the kind of music you would usually hear on Bugs Bunny, road runner, etc.

@peaceofkake1085 there used to be a video on here called "The Music of Dallas" where they talked about the composers. Especially Jerrold Imel with the theme. I think it's gone now

This was one of the saddest goodbyes of a Soap Icon. In my own way I felt sorrier for Ray because he only found out in the not too distant past that Jock was his Father. As for JR, just when he thought he could win his Father's Trust for all of the things he did in the past (IE The Asian Oil Deal), it was in many ways too late.

Miss Ellie always seemed like such an unnecessary character. When she was gone for all of S6 I really thought she was gonna die and not return. And why couldn't people just call her Ellie? I always pictured Jock and Clayton calling her Miss Ellie even in bed. haha.

I’m not sure America had ever before or has sense ever grieved the loss of a fictitious character who seemed so real to so many people, as was the case with “Jock Ewing”. This was national grief. It felt like somebody kicked a pillar out of something that people could not envision letting go of. As these characters struggled with the loss, so did viewers. Jim Davis’s death and the void it left in this series was a very big deal, and adjusting to his absence was not something ANYBODY was ready to do. People really felt like they had lost somebody they knew personally.
