Great question… it burns different oils. You can burn kerosene, diesel, paraffin, canola, caster and olive. So it’s generally called Oil Lamps.. I burn diesel or kerosene in mine.. thanks for the sub and kind comment.

Just curious, I know you live in a very different climate than me, somewhere south of me, do houses down there not normally have a whole home heating system? I live in Michigan's upper peninsula, so everyone's got a furnace or baseboard heat or just some source of whole home heat. I use a woodstove and have a propane furnace that turns on once or twice early morning (lot of times it doesn't turn on at all). Unless it's below zero, I don't fill the woodstove after like 4pm because the house gets too hot. Also the woodstove is not in the basement, so the basement stays cold, which is one reason I don't mind the furnace kicking on, but also I don't believe it's all that necessary to heat the basement, I don't think it's ever gone below 50 degrees. If it's above 35 degrees, only need to load the stove once a day, it'll rise up to like 76 degrees and drop down to 60 by the next morning. (If it's in the 40s overnight might only drop down to like 65). Between 10 and 35 degrees, two fires a day. Somewhere below ten, three fires. And if it's like negative 30, just about keep a constant fire, maybe an hour between full burn down and reloading. Luckily that doesn't happen often but it does happen. I love the woodstove, it's so nice to come in from the cold and the house is warm in a way that can't be achieved with a propane furnace. It's also cheap, like 50-75 bucks a year to heat the house (I do got to get the wood myself though, the prices people advertise for wood are ridiculous, you got to know someone if you're buying wood, also if you do buy that expensive wood, you have no idea how long it's been sitting, and it might not be usable/ideal for use that winter)

Just coming off the tail end of an ice storm here and have been running my kerosene heater. Initially, I was buying my 1K kerosene from big box stores and it was so expensive that I could really only afford to run it in an emergency. Then a friend told me about the farm co-op. The co-ops sell 1K kerosene for less than half the price of the big box stores and it is the exact same stuff! Now I burn it just for the heck of it, when it is really cold, because the heat it puts out is superior. I can heat this 1200 sq ft with ease with just one of these larger Dyna Glo models. I put the heater out in the center of the house and that's all it takes.

I have an old Kerosene heater that I got back in 2011. It looks very similar to yours in this video but different brand. I haven't used it in a couple of years because the last time I did it was giving off a lot of black smoke and dirtied up the walls in my house. Since then I've moved on and got new heaters while letting the old one rot in the basement. But seeing this video has given me hope if I follow these steps I can clean my old heater up and get it working again, because the condition of the heater in this video looks far worse than mine. So if you could work your magic on this maybe I can duplicate the same on mine. I will try to dry burn the wick and clean it, disassemble the heater and clean and wipe down all the parts and put it back together. As long as no parts are physically broken I should be able to get it functioning again if the wick can be cleaned, if not I can always get a new wick too. Thanks for the video, it was interesting to watch you work on your old heater.
