Data loss, damn that sucks, I'm also a belt and suspenders guy as well, but sometimes they get ya! I keep one ThinkPad running Linux that I just dump everything on before I even take it to Lightroom, not that it's full proof. Apple's arrogance in forcing you to re-enable permissions for the Synolgy is insane, trying to force you to use their mediocre Time Machine and online backup, something they've never been good at, and Windows 11 what a joke. They have engineers sitting there trying to justify their jobs, so they change it, for the worse.

I set it to double tap but when I hit command dial nothing happens? Any suggestions Tried single and manual focus

Number 8 - already there for PC (has been for years since at least the X-T3) , GOTO - Network/USB settings set connection mode to usb card reader.... copy to your hearts content straight from camera. Switch camera off and it charges battery, switch camera on it acts as a USB drive

My X-H2 has 7 custom functions which I can label. But the display on the top of the camera only shows C1 or C2…. There is plenty of room to put the text I have assigned to C1-C7. Please Fuji, make use of my top display!

Currently Fujifilm user. Will not buy an upgrade until autofocus is improved. Will switch to another brand if nothing happens this year.

Good list. AF is number one - albeit in my case, I did not have so much AF torubles, but I agree is topic number one. Double click in the joystick is a resounding YES. I would add two: - Make the IBIS better for video (for still is very good) - IBIS for video have a different "tunning" that for photos. For stills, IBIS should keep the sensor locked, no matter what. For video, it should have like a gimbal movement - you move the sensor, but in a gradual moving / stoppping. Fuji IBIS in video is constantly "fighting" the movement. Hire someonw from OM System, their IBIS system is perfect in video. - My personal main gripe with Fuji: Fujifilm is the brand that started all this trend of film simulation "recipes" - I was a guy that only shot RAW, and now I love film recipes - but now is the most difficult brand to use them. Don't know too much about Canon, but Sony (with their picture profiles), Lumix (with their LUT system) and Nikon and allowes you to create a custom color profile and use everywhere without hassle. Fuji users must resort do C custom positions (which are intended to store settings like shutter speed, aperture, AF mode, burst mode, pre capture, etc) to store custom color profiles. And if you saved, say in C1 a bunch of settings for portraits, and with a Porta recipe, and want to use the same settings with a custom P&B mode - you have to remake ALL the recipe. It is ridiculous - and the other manufacturers already noted it. Is just to create 4 ou5 five custom slots on the film simulations menu. Both are just firmware updates. Specially the film recipes one, is kinda easy - and if the AF saga was not solved, and being the ONLY manufacturer that makes a hell to use custom color profiles, I will probably switch to another brand. Time to Fuji come back to old Kaizen times and LISTEN THEIR CUSTOMERS.

According to Fuji updates should have arrived at the beginning of November, 17th is not beginning anymore. The acronym FFU could also be a nice message to Fujifilm, especially if they don't bring the update out soon!

Some really good suggestions, AF definately. My X-T5 just sits in s draw now. I would really like to be able to get rid of [turn off] what I consider "Life Style" elements in the phone app. Because of what to me are non photography content in the phone app I wont ever use it. Would like to know what others think of the phone app. . I am thinking of trying CCC Carbon Copy Cloner for my iMac 27"

I backup some photos one time, and after a while when I went to edit them I couldn't find them for the life of me. So I was frank with the client and we reshot everything. A couple of months later I found those original files! 🤦‍♂️

I can't remember the last Kaizen update that significantly improved my camera. It fixes some bugs and AF (not necessarily better). Sometimes they throw in the new fil simulation. That is it. Not impressed at all.

Been there, done that. My experience was on a whole new level though. Think bad decision with a major international bank's principal computer system and a resulting three week recovery time. Anyway, the nightmare's have stopped now and life goes on. As for the firmware wish list; please prefix menu items with a period if they can be set in custom modes. It bugs me that I have to remember to set 'shoot without lens' to ON when I've switched to a custom 'macro' mode and then back again after use. I'm getting too old to remember all the permutations I need to set for different shooting modes. Now, where did I put my Instamatic 100?

They already lost a lot of PRO level customers, and the Fuji resale value has been very poor due to the flood of 2nd hand Fuji cameras.

I have had a firmware wishlist item forever but I don't know if they'll ever do it: With the current setup, if your view mode is viewfinder only (AND only when you have your eye to the viewfinder), pressing the Menu button displays the menus only in the viewfinder. When you use that view mode setting, there should be an option to display the menu _on the LCD._ It's how they handle image playback when in that view mode. I don't understand why they can't do the same with the camera menus, at least as an option.

Dont mind a low resolution Jpeg, if it is well exposed with out artifacts, you can size in any size you want with Gigapixel

Another AF option that I think would be nice to have is the hyperfocal distance. It would be nice to have it as an option so that (at least with fujinon lenses) it just fixes the focus distance to the hyperfocal. It would be great for street photography

I think these are all good suggestions, assuming Fujifilm listens to them. I would also add a couple more : 1) Add 'contextual help' also to the greyed-out menu items to explain why they are not available at the moment. 2) Add a 'DSLR-like' view mode, where all shooting is done through the EVF, and the LCD is used only for the menu-similar to how it worked on DSLRs in normal (non-live view) mode.

Number 1 1/2: Introduce an "infinity button" when in the manual focus mode. Just push the button and it's instantaneously focused at infinity. (The problem is that practically all AF lenses focusing rings go _steeplessly_ BEYOND infinity.)

Re the second half - I blame the smartphone for my habit in assuming I can point and shot with these advanced cameras! I invariably miss settings in my haste to get snapping and screw up the session.

So glad you were able to get back most of your lost files. I am so ancient that when I started in IT in 1971 our computer ROOM could proudly boast 8 Exchangeable Disk Storage drives of 8 megabytes each and we thought we were lucky to have 64 megabytes of data available to us. Now you’ve just lost 1.3 terabytes of data. My mind boggles! 😊

I do have a problem with my focus point moving all over the frame

Another firmware update wish, please Fuji: Extend the USB transmission so that you can use a tablet as a live display in landscape format in the highest possible resolution (no wireless garbage, just USB). For video and of course also for photos (thethering). This would at least give the app a useful function 😉

I'd like to be able to lock the zoom of manual focus assist so that my shutter speed dial doesn't suddenly change what it does when i accidentally bump the focus ring on my lens...

When viewing through evf only, still be able to see the menu options on the LCD.

💯on improved autofocus being #1. 👍🏼on the others. Not keen on 7 and 9. My top asks are: 1) a customizable subject detect toggle button option so I can toggle between off-animal-bird (or whatever subjects I want) instead of just subject on/off like it is now; 2) A combined bird/animal subject detect mode; 3) ability to have a turn of rear dial to change focus box size when shutter speed is in auto; 4) more options for what to display in large indicator mode (e.g., AF-C/S/MF); 5) Explanations for why stuff is greyed out in menu (could be tied into Chris' Q menu suggestion); 6) Ability to customize what rear screens and info Disp./Back button toggles through; 7) Displaying SS when in auto and DR Auto and Auto SS is on; 8) Allowing a few more settings be added to My Menu (e.g., why can't Auto Power Off be added?); 9) Ability to lock large indicator mode for EVF and screen so they both turn on or off together; 10) The ability to choose what stuff changes with C1-C7, and what doesn't. E.g., I'd like the option for Auto ISO custom settings to be the same options across C1 through C7 (but the ability to HAVE different Auto ISO slots apply to different custom modes)

Where’s my XT4 brothers and sisters!

I'm using mostly manual lenses on the X-T5 with focus peaking. And the half pressed shutter button function which disabled the focus peaking just gone on the X-T5. It worked previously on the X-T3 which I owned before. Really disturbing to not see the image properly what I want to take.

XT 4 I dont care about video never use it 1 AF Every keeper raw image HAS to go through Topaz Photo Ai . I am sure if they improved AF I would not need to 2 Eye detection Hit and miss …make it ‘hit ‘ every time 3) Detection Bring all the things like Car etc etc to XT 4 too

As I’m a Fuji fanboy I’ve been on hold as far as buying any new equipment and not that Fuji will care but there down to days on this autofocus update before I make a change. I’ve been loyal

I was a salutory warning to me, and only use 2 levels + my SD cards. I keep my SD cards unused for a year plus, which means I can always go back if needed. I worked in tech, and I can tell you this happens to many people. Dont blame yourself too much.

Time delay for video seems kind of pointless in my case where I'm taking sports shots and have a delay anyway when the recording starts sometimes up to 3 seconds after pushing the button.

AF for XT4. For the future make XT6 of same quality build & Size as XT4 not cheap like XT5

Just 2 things I wish to see on GFX: - pixel binning for GFX 100 series, at least if I not wrong sony sensor allows it. Low res raw setting would be perfect. So many people stick to 50 series just because 100 mp raws are too big and hard to edit. And I feel for people like me who use GFX for portraiture 100 / 4 ~= 25 would be just enough - close shutter curtain automatically when turn of or without lens, GFX sensor is dust magnet, how it can go without this feature for the price of GFX bodies?

I shoot various kinds of live performances (stills) - It would really help me to have a setting where face/eye detection is restricted to a given centered area and can't move to someone on the the fringes when subject(s) are turning - In AFS

Personally, I want one thing - the ability to choose which things I want to set individually for positions C1-C7 and which I want to set universally for the whole camera. On new cameras, the C positions store separately the AutoISO settings, converter settings (in the case of the X100VI), etc. I have various film recipes mapped to the custom poses, and it personally annoys me that when I switch simulations, I have to think about switching, for example, the AutoISO value again, or the converter settings for the older version of converters for the X100. I'd appreciate the ability to choose somewhere which items I want to have set separately for each custom position and which I want to have globally, and which ones stay changed when I switch custom positions C1-C7, as was the case with older cameras when these items weren't saved separately for each position.

Is it possible in a firmware update to eliminate the jpeg files that are created when using "image size" 4:3 to 64-24" in shooting images? Yes, I realize I can just delete them once downloaded, but at least for me, it would be great not to have them created in the first place when creating a 64-24 size image in camera

One of the biggest complaints I have is how Eye AF Is coupled with photometry. It causes wild variability With exposure between when it detects an eye and when it doesn’t. Granted, if Eye AF was 100% reliable this wouldn’t be as much of an issue as I could just use the expose compensation dial, but I feel that’s a much bigger ask.

I must be one of the few people that doesn’t have a major issue with the Fuji AF. I shoot mainly birds, and my x-h2 does everything I ask of it and then some. Its AF is not up to that of my Sony a7cr, but it’s good enough - and it has the indispensable pre-shot mode that the Sony doesn’t. (Pre-shot works superbly in the x-h2, perhaps because of the its fast memory card and generous buffer). In my experience, the AF is most reliable when using back button focusing.
