What a wonderful memory, My grandmother was my art teacher, and she encouraged me to watch this show. I just remember, you couldn't keep up with it, couldn't pause it, couldn't go back.. I did grow up to be a professional artist and achieved my goals,, Thanks Captain Bob Cottle.

The Bob Ross of New England before anyone local heard of Bob Ross. The best thing to watch on Saturday mornings in New England in the 70's before the cartoons came on.

These bubble and squeak cartoons are so weird.
@pebeyАй бұрын
Call them weird if you like. They were a bunch of talented but green young folks trying to produce a product that could compete with American cartoons. If there are confusing and poorly timed moments, they were finding their way, and the money ran out before they could nail it. What I find weird is these commenters here who are obssessed with Western Electric soundtracks. What planet are they from?

Hello i got one from my grandfather and im thinking now selling it. But what is really the value in one. It havent run in years since my grandfather died 2007. Is it ebay or?
@pebey3 ай бұрын
It's a pretty good projector for silent films, if it runs. But there are a lot of 8mm options out there, and probably not enough buyers-if you go the eBay route it will sit there unsold for a long time, unless you sell it cheap.

This animation quality is awesome! I wish these got a high-quality restoration. Also, it looks like John Kricfalusi heavily "borrowed" from this style when he made Jimmy the Idiot Boy, yet I can't find any record of him mentioning this cartoon. Maaaybe it's coincidence, but I gotta wonder if that guy found this hidden gem & wanted to keep its influence all to himself.

According to IMDb and the Wikipedia article, George Moreno first worked for the Fleischer Brothers and Walter Lantz. Then, after World War II, he moved to the UK and joined his friend Richard Smith in establishing their animation studio, British Animated Productions.

Interesting to see theatrical golden age shorts from other parts of the world; these were almost NEVER brought over to other countries (I wonder if the same applies to a lot of the lesser American shorts)

I would guess it depends on how well the story translates to another culture.. I would guess Popeye has universal appeal. Screen Songs like "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing" ain't gonna cut it in Peru. There's also the factor of the promotional muscle behind it.
