I drove a Ringfreaks Golf GTI right after the N24 in 2023. I even had Ignas as my guide for two laps, he's a great guy. The reservation process and check-in are as easy as he described. One thing he didn't mention is that Ringfreaks gives you a new balaclava to wear under those helmets. You also get a copy of the Go Pro recording looking over your shoulder and out the front window. This includes a map showing your location on the Nordscleife, and the KPH speed and RPMs.

You can get slightly bigger front disc brakes (330mm-ish?) just using caliper brackets from a 330i, X1 (and probably more models) etc as the calipers and pads are the same in practice (they have different part numbers but supposedly fit anyways).

How would you compare e90 n51/n52 vs the f30 n26 as a ocassional track car in terms of reliability and maintenance?
@Ringfreaks
@Ringfreaks Ай бұрын
N52 is more reliable. But it ofcourse has to do with power/liters. N26 produces 245hp from 2.0L and N52 218hp form 2.5. But all in all - if its rebuild engine and maintained properly - then both are very reliable in the track. If you take used and track it - most engines won't hold.

Worst changes the track have gone through in 10 years, making the curbs higher is dumb imo . The track had a nice flow, now the curbs are completely bordering the road and there is maybe 3-4 spots left where you can put 2 wheels on the curbs . Maybe I’m missing something or it’s for some safety reasons ? I still think it’s actually more dangerous to have bouncy curbs than curbs you can go over . Just imagine clipping one of these at 160-170 or more ? What was the idea there ? Make the drivers slower ? I don’t get it .

I had a few e36, including 328i tracktoll and M3, they are great cars when modified, only drawback is that they don't have a very exciting playful chassis, because of long wheelbase/engine placement. They drive like on rails with a predictable understeer over the limit. Best aftermarket support of any bmw and the biggest community with insane amount of DIY's and knowledge. They are getting old, expensive and rare.. I still recommend them above any other bmw for track driving.

Thank you! Very interesting video. I have a question: Where can I drive a selfmade racecar which is not street legal? Is it allowed on trackdays? How are the rules? Where can I find them? Thank you
@Ringfreaks
@Ringfreaks Ай бұрын
Thank you! During Tourist drives 100% not, but on some trackdays it is allowed to drive non-street legal cars. But in my opinion - it is better option to choose smaller tracks with more run of area, as well with closer pits. In case if anything goes wrong - you can fix it much faster and be back on track.
@Builtrc1
@Builtrc1 Ай бұрын
Thank you, that's of course better. Unfortunately I find it hard to get the information I would need to make the right decisions regarding my plans to build an amazing machine. Because it wouldn't make sense, if I can't drive it legally and if it is not allowed to take part in races. Ideal would be to build something that is street legal. But where can I find all the regulations or somebody who knows all that stuff regarding street legal racecars? I would really appreciate it, if you could help me or maybe get me some contact to someone! 🙏🏻😃

My experience: If u meet Ringfreaks or Rent4Ring rental on track, be extra, and I mean what I say, be extra extra careful when overtaking them. Reason u can see at 2:00. No checks if ur capable to drive the Nord or that specific car or know the rules of Nord or just basic rules of driving on a racetrack. And another thing: Whatever happens, by German law ur always at least 25% guilty. I repeat: Also when it´s 100% not ur fault, ur 25% guilty

This is a bit of a disingenuous comment. These are not particularly high horsepower cars. No other rental company requires an instructor lap for cars at this power. R4R does for Alpine. Your drivers license is reasonably assumed to suggest sufficient driving ability, for these power cars, on TFs. Youre zero’ing out 2 particular companies for a policy all of them have. None will require you an instructor lap in a <300hp car, and your drivers license is your qualification TF’s are not track days. It’s a public toll road. Theres no further requirement than a valid recognized license to prove your ability. It’s the responsibility of every driver on TFs to drive defensively in a manner as to be aware of new amateurs possibly being in ANY car at ANY time on track. Has nothing to do with 2 particular rental companies. R4R does require an instructor lap with Alpine and Supra, so you’re just wrong there. And with these, they are not high enough hp to require an instructor lap. No other company renting cars does anything more than check for a valid license when renting out cars of this power For higher power track modded cars, they do require instructor laps

I wouldn´t give my E36 away for anything, even bought an additional 325i convertible last year because i got my coupe where i want it pretty much, so obviously needed another project. 😅 You literally can do everything on it yourself, my coupe hasn´t seen a shop/garage since 2016, it´s so simple to maintain or update parts. Old beemers are just better! 😁👍

E90 325i/330i with N52 engine was the last good BMW imo, newer ones lack quality and joy in driving, last F30 i drove was going all over the road and couldn't go in straight line even though it's still fairly new and was well maintained, if i bought F30 for the price it costs i would feel like i got smacked in the face and spit on.

Super interesting video. I guess I never realized how good of a platform the E90 is. I really love the minimalist approach with the brakes for example. Everybody is so eager to spend thousands on big brake kits, while there is so much to gain on just the stock stuff.

Hi, I’m looking to build a “cheaper” track car, i was looking to get a e46 325/28/30i coupe or e92 325/30i coupe. Just because i think the coupe looks better then the sedan. And my question is actually why you guys build the sedan to a track car and not the coupe since it is only a 2 sitter. Is the sedan version better is some way then the coupe version? And isn’t the coupe lighter then the sedan in stock form since its a smaller car?
@Ringfreaks
@Ringfreaks Ай бұрын
Hi! Sedans are lighter and also more rigid. So if you can bear with the looks - then 4door is better.

Got my 328i 20 years ago for only 4K, full m50 intake and chip and it was on 220bhp lightened to 1200kg, all STREET LEGAL... it flied. E36 were designed as racing machines, even the 318iS E36 came with a reinforced engine that can do 180bhp from stock with a few mods... had both, very light cars with very good traction and very good engines... and a very good aerodinamics. Compared to the crap today car standars even a 318 E36 can be a racecar... thats why the price increased a lot... the 4K 328i i got in 2000 now its about sold at 14K !!! Only compact E36 still being a bit cheap because people dont know they even exists lol... get an E36 now when is still affordable.
