This hits me like a ton of bricks. My friend passed away about two months ago from a fentanyl overdose. I got sober and she didnt. I will never stop feeling guilty.

My ex girlfriend took her life 02 September. She struggled heavily with substance abuse. She was maybe 3-4 days out of rehab when she did it. I have a text from her from a couple days before she did it. She was talking about how she wanted to go to Switzerland. Our relationship wasn't great but that doesn't mean I wanted her to die. I try not to talk about it much cause I feel like I'm drawing attention to myself

What a finale!! I couldn't avoid thinking about how my life has changed when the first record came out and today, from being a college student whose whole world used to be parties, friends and rock shows to a man that has to dealt with many of the Aaron problems, a miscarriage and a divorce last year got me struggling lately but the message is that everything will be fine in the end, Aaron is a fictional character but I feel like I have grown with him and I would give him a hug if I can for this beautiful message in his music

Dude you’ve completely ruined music for me, and I mean that in the best possible way. The lyrics, the music, the very soul of basically any song Soupy puts out just hits me in the heart in a way few other songwriters or musicians have. It’s gotten to where I get bored listening to almost any other musicians other than TWY, AW&tR20’s, and Dan himself. I started listening to TWY back during The Greatest Generation, and the emotions behind that album just spoke to me and what I was going through at the time. I was lost and depressed, kinda just floating through life doing what my parents told me to do. Felt like I was wasting my life while everyone around me was moving forward in theirs. No Closer to Heaven dropped and again, going through yet another rough time in life, it was what I needed at the time. Sister Cities as well. Now Hum, and I finally got on my feet but I’m terrified of losing my footing, meanwhile I’m terrified for my nieces’ and nephews’ futures on top of that. Aaron West was therapeutic too, a story of compounding failures and not knowing how to break free of that. So thank you, Dan and the rest of the team(s). You’ve simultaneously ruined and raised my standards for music.

10 years of following this journey has been incredible. My life has forever been changed by these stories and melodies. What an incredible album and a fantastic conclusion to a heartbreaking story of a person who just wants to heal. I will never forget what I’ve learned, how I’ve grown, and the tears I’ve shed. Thank you so much for this and for reminding us it’s okay to be broken. Pain only a chapter in our story and you are never alone in your struggles. Long live AW&TR20s ❤
