It's Sam. Dan confirmed it an interview. I assume it takes place like a week after "Paying Bills At The End Of The World," since they planned to meet up for drinks.

In the journal that came with the deluxe edition there seems to be a noticable effort to address Sam with only They/Them pronouns. Aaron is in love with an enby ~ 😌
