There's only a slight difference between the sweep of the 4hrz, its smoother but the old 7s26 looks good.

It is hard to tell unless you really look at it. The Seiko is 6 ticks per second, and the ETA is 8. For another comparison of a 2.5Hz / 5 ticks per second movement: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2msY6WCZpqXjtk, and 8Hz / 16 ticks quartz movement: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoHUdGeHe86ErMk

Decent enough watch, but it only has 2 fine adjustment holes on the bracelet which isn't enough. Makes it difficult to get an exact fit unless you are lucky.

Which is surprisingly compared to the other Casios. The World Time AE1200 has 4, the Edifice EFRS108 has 3, and the Edifice EFB700 has 4.

"cased in china" written on the back. 😢 After 3 to 4 years : Water resistance problems, just washing hands, it fills with water. Push buttons have very flimsy springs that catch dirt inside and become inoperant with time. Also alarm function is useless because quite inaudible. Analog/digital time frequent desynchronisation... Only 4 months power reserve on the lowest side of solar watches. (+ Bracelet is a piece of crap, but we already know this.. and could be replaced.) Nice but overrated and overpriced very cheap chinese casio... not so durable as you may think. Sorry. 😉

If the watch is indoors and doesn't get enough direct artificial light, will eventually shut off after a few months. Happened to me as well.

@kevw425 yes, because of the weak power reserve... only 4 months maximum. On all my solar watches, (1 Gshock, 2 Citizen ecodrive and 1 Seiko solar) they keep going through winter and even longer in their box with very low to no light without any problem. Stronger power reserve and more efficient solar movement...😉

What an interesting movement. The quartz movement VK31 ticks at 4 times a second but it's nowhere this smooth as best my eyes can tell. I think I'll try to pick this model up. Thanks for the video.

I prefer & own the A500w. The reasons I prefer it are: 1) It's just the right size. I don't see the point of large watches. I think they look ungainly on the wrist. My wrist is just under 7" and the A500w fits perfectly. It doesn't overwhelm my wrist like the AE1200WH. 2) I love straight lines, angles and geometry and to my eye the A500w just looks better. I prefer the simplicity of the design. 3) The A500w has everything I need in my watch. 4) I can wear the A500w as a dress watch as well as a casual watch. I don't think the AE1200WH makes a good dress watch. 5) The world time is useful to me and I like the larger world map on the A500w.

In the repair manuals definitely has a part where they mention viscous oil in the movement. However, it is not like they have an engine oil cap you can open and pour in oil. I wonder if this is one of the reasons they no longer produce this line of watches as well as competing with Spring Drive smooth sweepers.

Seiko still have quartz watches that have a higher frequency, not sure how they do it in their newer watches however

Seiko makes quite a few high accuracy quartz movements, but none are smooth sweep. I think it would be competing with their Spring Drive line perhaps. Also looks like not as long lasting as traditional 1 tick per second quartz watches?

@@kevw425 Seems to be two ways of making a quartz highly accurate, higher frequency or thermal compensation, higher frequency could be used to also have a very smooth appearing seconds hand. But it would take a lot more energy, same as if they kept the original frequency but made the second hand move more often. So they probably could make a normal quartz smooth sweep, but the battery would need changing constantly and it would cause a lot more wear. I don't know how spring drive movements compare to normal quartz when it comes to durability, as I have no experience with servicing a spring drive movement, I would like to try one, one day though

I recently got this watch and am having trouble setting the day. today is Thursday and the watch says Sunday. I live in Vancouver bc and the watch is set to lax. The year is set to 2024. I can't figure it out , Any Ideas?

The watch has a Swiss-made Ronda 513 movement and nearly silent as far as I can tell.

Since your watch has a brushed finish, use a green scotch brute sponge and polish the band in one direction

I once had the f91w, i'm not too crazy about the rubber strap. Lost it on a hotel while in vacation. Then not long after, bought the a168. Love it way more than the f91w. Changed the brace strap with metal mesh type and loved it even more. Still have it to this day. Thanks for the vid. Such nostalgia.

if i have 2-3 different android devices to connect to, is there a shortcut where the keyboard can seamlessly shift between devices? or do i have to manually connect/disconnect everytime?

There is a physical 2 way switch on the upper right edge that lets you switch between dongle on the left and bluetooth on the right. If you pull that switch further to the bluetooth side, it goes into bluetooth pairing mode. There is another switch that switches between Android and Windows modes. I keep it on the Windows side for both MacOS and Windows.

@@jayasuriyas2604 yes, resine body. But they apply a different metallic finish on it. Metallic paint that looks very fake. Or chrome plating that shines like real metal.

It's a cool looking watch. But I have a red, a blue, a white and two black original G-7900s, and they have Electroluminecense, two stopwatches, 1 timer, world time, 4 alarms, and are easy to read, like the one you feature, without being a MIP display. So I shouldn't really by anymore of them. ... Marketed as a Surfer Watch originally. It's also good for patrol security guards, nightshift workers, because the moon phase lets you know if certain areas will be dark, or lit up, if the weather is clear. Also a Low Temp-LCD which means, it works to -10C before the screen gets sluggish, and freezes. I've tested it in winter. It takes a CR2032 battery. It last way longer than 2yrs. I'm guessing 7 years? Give or take what you turn on, daily.

Dont buy Casio a a700 is bracelet is too loose and might fall .....
