I like his message but he should speak more about sources of fiber. As he condemns fructose, he doesn't distinguish between fructose in whole fruit and highly processed high fructose foods. He also doesn't mention that fiber is only found in plants - meat, fish and dairy don't have fiber.

This was a rather short discussion. But if you read his book Metabolical, he goes deep into all of these things. It's a GREAT book!

Robert is a bright guy, but he needs to get more inline with Dr Berry and Dr Chaffee. Looking at his BMI and obesity should tell him his shirt with veggies and fruit are not the proper human diet. He is missing something in his approach.

Can you have chronic high insulin levels yet not be hungry most of or almost all the time? If one has this condition where the person has high insulin levels yet they are not hungry most or just about all the time, what can be going on? Note that this same person has slightly higher blood pressure than the norm as well.

I am wrapping up the book The China Study. One of the chapters talked about Doctors who got black balled and 86ed from the clinics they were working at because they dare to buck big money, dairy, cattle , sugar industries for promoting real food to stop heart attracts and high blood pressure. Theses Docs were cutting into the hospitals cash cows by having patients avoiding surgeries’. Was wondering if anyone ever threatened Dr. Rob Lustig. Oh and where can I get the shirt?

Bob ain't the best physical specimen in the whole plant food movement. But I think that's because he's not a plant-based guy (he's a Real Food guy). I hope he's metabolically healthy because he is trying to help industry change for the better, and he's an active educator. He does good work.

Dietary services individualized to the needs of each resident. This is what the Federal rules say that is supposed to be happening in nursing homes. BUT, this isn't happening in the nursing home I am in. They say I cannot for any reason receive organic raw fruits and veggies. They would rather serve to everyone the exact same thing, which are carbs and sugars and cooked foods. This means mashed potatoes, macaroni, hard cooked meats like pork many times. Desserts, tea with sweet and low, juices, eggs with pancakes and hot cereal and carcinogenic meats like flat sausage or link sausage. Sometimes a banana. After 6 months being here, I changed my tray to fruit only. When I looked at the salad I had asked for, most times it had drab iceberg lettuce on it. It was a salad, but all I could see were the pesticides on it. At least the fruit had thick skins on them to begin with. I am trying to heal the metabolic acidosis I came in with. This nursing home could only think of wrapping my draining legs with tight ace bandages. They said this would cure the leg swelling. I tried that, but had to take them off because they hurt so much. I could see this was not a cure. The wound nurse would not help me with anything else. She said I could only have one bandage per leg each day because I could not tolerate the tight ace wraps. I have 3 liquid draining wounds on my legs. I need 3 bandages per day for each leg. I figure this is inflammation pouring out of me. Even though I have stopped sugars and carbs, I am not able to exercise to the point of sweating, so this liquid must be like sweat, toxins from my inefficient body not being able to walk from the missing cartilage between my hip and leg bones. I am 69, but no where as lost as all of the dementia people in this nursing home. Lustig is talking about alzeimer's/dementia being caused by these sugary processed foods. I don't see this nursing home as being the one that cares. I think it looks like medicaid/medicare has their hands deep into this sugar, too. Just read articles like this: Nation’s Largest Nursing Home Pharmacy to Pay Over $28 Million to Settle Kickback Allegations

I love the part where he says "Coke, Doritos and Oreos are vegan" lol. The manufacturers actually have the temerity to print that claim on their packaging. While it is absurd and true, what's more sad is there are people who equate 'vegan = healthy'. I can abstain from sugary drinks, processed flour treats, aka chips and cookies but breads and pizzas remain a weakness, largely because I've found alternatives for coke in the form of sparkling water. I'll try and limit my consumption of breads and pizzas to once every few weeks but you're still making up the deficit with rice which is a staple in my household and I suspect in many other homes due to its relative low cost. This morning, for my OMAD meal, I had steamed broccoli and cauliflower with pork loin broth / soup with carrots, baby 'sweat' peas which I made on my own. The spices and sea salt was so fragrant after fasting for almost 24 hours as I started salivating after the first bite. I suppose what I'm doing here is rationalizing an occasional treat of 'bad foods' like pizza and bread if I stay vigilant with my OMAD diet which is already paying dividends. The one thing that concerns me is the sauce and various and sundries of ingredients which have added sugars unless of course I make my own at home.

Very educative video. Infact ayurveda educated Indians about the right food to be consumed, advantages of intermittent fasting, thru hitha bhuk, mitha bhuk, ruthu bhuk. But people world over including India always trusted whatever US does and even to this day agriculture graduates are taught about ultra food processing and Govt of India even has the administrative structure called Ministry of Food processing. India is marching towards ultra food processing and obesity and T2D are both increasing along with NCDs. Despite all educative videos NCDs are increasing exponentially.....
