Listening to Dr Lustig's "Sugar The Bitter Truth" lecture was the watershed moment in my life where I reevaluated my life and saw my future. I have since changed the way I live, eat, and relate to others. Within two weeks of changing what and how I ate, my bp normalized, my mind got clear (I didn't even realize that my brain was not functioning well), started sleeping much better, overall mentally much more alert and positive, lost 25 lbs so far. THANK YOU, DR. LUSTIG FOR FIGHTING FOR THE TRUTH!!

On the other hand he has flipped quite a bit in his Bitter Truth about sugar pitch. While making valuable contributions he is talking out of both sides of his mouth. It's not unlike the stooges at the NY Times doing diet and nutrition PR for various food interests. Also as time goes on, he looks more and more unfit. This isn't pleasing to share but I've followed his talks for over a decade carefully.
@lorimav
@lorimav Жыл бұрын
@@Madasin_PaineI have been following him more than a decade also but maybe not so closely. Do you feel he has made a major shift? If so in what way? What I got initially was "sugar is bad." He just seems to have added a greater emphasis on processed food in general. I felt he initially emphasized sugar is bad for the liver. Now he is also emphasizing that ultra processed food is bad for the gut.

I too am Thankful for Dr. Robert Lustig. I was disappointed the slides weren’t shown, especially the one that shows the liver in 3 different people at different weights. The one person whose liver was healthy had love handles and would have been considered obese. In mentoring my son I have been critical of his weight where I should have been focusing on the sugar. Today’s children have the same liver diseases as alcoholics as the liver metabolize sugar and alcohol the same way. We have a family history of alcoholism. Fatty Liver is a silent killer. I wonder if the video could be corrected to show the slides. Dr. Robert Lustig message is so important at 79 I feel I have waited a lifetime to hear it.

My son is overweight with a fatty liver at 24 doesn’t drink alcohol he bikes and exercises but eats sugar, dairy, meat high fat and salt processed foods I’m whole food plant based vegan no processed foods no refined sugars he’s seeing the difference and sending him a video like this helps a lot. It’s important to show that eating high refined sugar and breads is like being an alcoholic. My son doesn’t drink because he saw what it did to family members . He needs to see this about sugar. It may save his life. I see it’s a tough addiction in this world. I never want to eat it again. Whole fruit tastes so much better to me now.

There are 5-6 grocery stores I go to here in Las Vegas. I can definitely tell you the stores in the poorest areas are the absolute worse. Shameless amounts of sugary junk as you walk in the store. All sorts of crappy junk in every aisle..and of course when you check out even more junk just in case you somehow dodged the sugar bombs dropped on you during every single second throughout the store. Yes, in the poorest stores I see the most miserable morbidly obese people you may say they don't have control but I say they are victims by diabolical corporations. Another observation. Back in the 70's and early 80's the grocery stores were the healthiest way to buy food..yes, they had a couple of aisles where you could buy chips and soda but for the most part they were far less sugary. But today, it's NOTHING but Sugar Junk in the grocery stores. It absolutely should be illegal.

I was probably healty-ish earlier, but since I have cut on fruit juice, flour based products and low-fat milk based products, I never felt this awesome in my life, my brain works 200%, my body moves easier, I'm faster, I can follow two things and be focused more, my memory is reliable, when I look at me in mirror I objectively see that I am at 11/10 now. I eat old cheese, moderate whole fruits, more fibers, I eat less often because I don't feel the need or hunger anymore, I feel a need to go out and walk, I enjoy life 10x more. Each morning is a bliss with flowers and in my head all the people come and argue about what more I will do this day, there is nothing better than being a new human being. I'm 46, my life just started. All systems are switched ON now. If anyone would have tell me this before I would NEVER believe it. (also omega-3 from fish oil)

Great info my Dr. Lustig here. I started eating a lot more fat and protein and less sugar I definitely see a huge difference. I've seen it where doctors take a morbidly obese person at 400 lbs.put them on a diet and exercise program where the only sugar they eat daily is a half candybar after exercise. Within 1-2 years their weight was down in the 230 range. These docs knew what they were doing and in my opinion a half candy bar a day is about all the sugar you should have.

Dietary services individualized to the needs of each resident. This is what the Federal rules say that is supposed to be happening in nursing homes. BUT, this isn't happening in the nursing home I am in. They say I cannot for any reason receive organic raw fruits and veggies. They would rather serve to everyone the exact same thing, which are carbs and sugars and cooked foods. This means mashed potatoes, macaroni, hard cooked meats like pork many times. Desserts, tea with sweet and low, juices, eggs with pancakes and hot cereal and carcinogenic meats like flat sausage or link sausage. Sometimes a banana. After 6 months being here, I changed my tray to fruit only. When I looked at the salad I had asked for, most times it had drab iceberg lettuce on it. It was a salad, but all I could see were the pesticides on it. At least the fruit had thick skins on them to begin with. I am trying to heal the metabolic acidosis I came in with. This nursing home could only think of wrapping my draining legs with tight ace bandages. They said this would cure the leg swelling. I tried that, but had to take them off because they hurt so much. I could see this was not a cure. The wound nurse would not help me with anything else. She said I could only have one bandage per leg each day because I could not tolerate the tight ace wraps. I have 3 liquid draining wounds on my legs. I need 3 bandages per day for each leg. I figure this is inflammation pouring out of me. Even though I have stopped sugars and carbs, I am not able to exercise to the point of sweating, so this liquid must be like sweat, toxins from my inefficient body not being able to walk from the missing cartilage between my hip and leg bones. I am 69, but no where as lost as all of the dementia people in this nursing home. Lustig is talking about alzeimer's/dementia being caused by these sugary processed foods. I don't see this nursing home as being the one that cares. I think it looks like medicaid/medicare has their hands deep into this sugar, too. Just read articles like this: Nation’s Largest Nursing Home Pharmacy to Pay Over $28 Million to Settle Kickback Allegations

Every lecture and / or discussion I learn something new about sugar and processed foods. Grocery stores are the equivalent of modern-day Crack House's.

In my opinion all processed foods should be banned and made illegal to import and export, also before there were supermarkets and fast food shops there were farms, stick to foods and ingredients that come directly off or from a farm

I find it most interesting that out of all the attendants shown in view of the camera I see only ONE taking notes! Not to mention, I heard no vocal participation from the audience__and these are people who work in the food industries that 'determine' our choices! 😱😒 Absolutely love the T-shirt and his opening comment referring to it! 😛 I WANT ONE, TOO!!! 💖 Lots of guts, Doc, lots of guts__you give it to 'em strait! 😒 🙏😇✨💫🌱🌿🌻🐝🌳🌎💖🙌😺
