Thank you for sharing these videos! This was my exact problem. I just got a Viking 630 from a friend who hasn't used it in years. This was perfect!

Thank you for the video. I hadn't serviced my 630 myself before, though I have gotten into cleaning up vintage sewing machines. I removed the screw for the cover, but didn't pry too hard on the plastic. Now that I know to lift up on it, I was able to get it off easily. Working on my machines makes me happy.

I am SO frustrated! Both the black part and the silver part were both frozen when I got the machine. I used your helpful tutorial and finally the silver part started moving freely and easily. But the black part is still SO SO stuff. It barely moves. I heated it several times and nothing. I sprayed the crap out of it with the tri-flow oil. When I go to move the stitch length slider in the front it doesn’t engage the mechanism at all. What am I doing wrong? Your video is probably one of the only good ones out there for some reason it’s so hard to find information. Any advice at all is super appreciated. I am trying to fix my friends machine for Christmas. I saw in another video a guy used carborator cleaner and heat to unjam the cam shaft. Might this work? Thank you!!!!

good video…you should have used pry tools instead of a screw driver to pry off the back so as not to leave marks on your cover.

Thanks! I bought a 630 at a thrift store (after my 1999 version was stolen in a move) and it sewed like a dream but once I pressed that reverse button, it was all over. Now I have to figure out how to tighten the spring that takes it back out of reverse.

Mine had the exact same issue when I first got it…if ur stuck in reverse its likely the plates are sealed together. I did another video on how to fix it :)

Follow Jess's video for removing the back of the Optima sewing machine, Then you need to remove the cover on the lower section which is held in with one philps head (cross head screw) and this will give you access to the foot, There are no electrics in this area though!. If this is because the machine has stopped working it is more likely a blown capacitor on the board under the machine and not the foot pedal. It can be mended by an electrician who solders and does board work. You turn the board upside down and undo a screw slide the board and lift out. If you want to open the foot pedal you need to turn it upside down and insert a wide flat head screwdriver between the top and the bottom pieces at the side as close to the hinge as possible, gently twist the scredriver and it will open up the hinge/ pivot enough to pull it apart once this is done the other side will slip out Getting the box out that houses the mechanism out of the housing also requires screw drivers inserted between box and clip and will pull out but this is tricky. The box itself is hard to open and needs prising open to break the black heads that hold it in place you will then need to tape it back together once mended.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. There is a quick comment in your commentary which said "no need to touch this screw with the flat head as that adjusts the reverse." Since my machine came back from a deadly repair last year (The electronic power board frazzled) the reverse has been almost non existant. I followed your instructions to remove the back because I had no idea how far or which way I could screw the reverse screw head and adjusted it, Now its sewing in reverse wonderfully. I can't say thank you enough. (I love my 620)

Hi Jessica, I have the 630. Today I was FMQ (I have been sewing a lot today) and suddenly it quit sewing although the light was still on. I cleaned all the lint out, checked all the plugs, taken the bobbin out and replaced it. It then started working. Then I had to rewind bobbins, the light is still on but it will not rewind or sew. HELP! I can't afford to have maintenance on it, thenk you for any help you can give me.

Thank so much for the demo. I am trying to collect as much information I can, because my Husqvarna optima 630 came without a manual. I ordered bobbins online and they don’t fit. Do you have any idea what is the number of the bobbin I need?
@Snail_Nailz5 жыл бұрын
Pauline Guindon I’m not sure that the manual states a bobbin size, just talks about loading it on the winder with the ‘H’ symbol facing out. The lady I bought mine from threw in a bunch of metal off-brand bobbins that work great, so there must be a way for me to tell which # works. I’ll check when I’m back from vacation next week & let u know

Good info! I have this machine and was told the transformer was blown. Can you provide a pic of where the transformer is? I can't find anything else on this machine! Thanks!!
@Snail_Nailz5 жыл бұрын
Iceonfire1878 I think u may have commented on the wrong video? These machines are some of the last manual versions without any computer parts- so there’s no transformer. Some of the issues that may come up: -Cam shafts can crack on the older models (not this one) -Belts worn & cracked or broken -Stitch dial, needle crank, etc can freeze up when the oil hardens...
@Iceonfire18782 жыл бұрын
@@Snail_Nailz I am still trying to find out about my machine. After 2+ years of my machine being in a storage closet, I am able to get it fixed and found someone to do it. I just happened on your video once again, and saw that I had already posted. Yes, there is an electronics board. If you look at the bottom, there is a black plate and the board is under that. I have someone who can fix the transformer, however I can't get that plate off. The screw comes out easily, and starts to lift off, but it is stuck at the hinge end. If you look under it, you can see the electronics board. Any tips on getting that off? I don't want to force it and break it. Thanks in advance!!
