It's really sad news for our Kariba loosing life to these gentle giants and it's happening in many African countries if you remember a young guide who lost life in SA but on a sad note resolving this human wildlife conflict is not as easy as we might think from the look of things. Especially now that wildlife(tourism) is one of the top earners of foreign currency,we just need to give the animals their space and at the same time,there is no longer that space and then you wonder did really at one time man like Adam and Eve lived in harmony with these wild animals or there were none wild in their time
@MariaHamzКүн бұрын
@ezymus234 thanks for watching and commenting on this sad vlog. Growing up in Kariba I also witnessed this wildlife conflict but it was rare to hear tragic accidents as what’s happening nowadays. In my days there were robust measures taken like use of gunshots in the air to get the animals to move back as far as possible from people and even at times use of of culling measures . I remember people would be offered game meat but nowadays I guess with limited resources this does not happen anymore . I agree with you that it’s not easy to resolve this issue. Recent drought in the country has made things worse as the wildlife tend to encroach the residential areas in search for food. It’s one of those issues that are not easy to tackle for sure as you said it’s what brings the tourists into this beautiful area and creates jobs for the locals. Personally I feel that creating more awareness to our communities on how to live in harmony with the wildlife will also help as well especially more so now when fatal accidents seems to be happening more than some the past.

To be honest I grew up in this community and it’s a beautiful place. The wildlife makes it unique and brings tourists but I think something needs to be done to protect the locals. I believe there are so many ways of addressing this and I hope my people here will engage and let me know their suggestions.

Holy moly…USD30 for 20sqm is just as cheap as chips considering all the toiling & hard graft these guys put in extracting the quarry! Wow, I adore your cousin’s little crib built out of quarry stone and the yard is paved in quarry too! I also adore the simple fact that people coexist with those monkeys up in the hills! Just look at the simple school with bare minimum facilities & no technological facilities whatsoever ! I feel pity for those poor teachers who work tirelessly with so much dedication at the school and the insurmountable daily challenges they endure 😮😢! Witnessing the hard life people live in those Kariba villages perched up in the middle of nowhere has made me appreciate the little things that I actually possess..😢!

So so true my brother about what you said in your comments. I hope the guys gets support from people buying their stones because they are so beautiful and I will definitely be ordering some when I start building. What I like most is how resilient and content making the most of what they have instead of murmuring. The parents support the school by being creative as you saw in the playground. The teachers are amazing and love their work as shown by how they travel far each day just to be there for the kids. Now that’s true dedication 🖖
