Great video. I’ve not used a boat in 14 years but have just got a catch x pro with hydrobat. Is there any chance you could please do a video showing setting it all up and marking spots. I’ve found the instructions abit confusing and don’t really fancy spending hours on the bank trying to get it to work as I don’t get to fish often. Many thanks in advance.

Hello! 4 things I would have done differently. 1: on the side and rear windows, I would rather fold the tarp up than down. Catches water in the rain. 2: The winter cover is missing, does it come with it? 3: The windows are missing the transparent plastic film, you won't be able to see through it in the rain! 4: I would zip the windows from inside the tent. In terms of material quality, I've heard it's not as good as the Fox Frontier. In everything else, I think it competes with the other big brands in terms of price, value ratio and assembly. I'm really looking forward to seeing it live. Best regards, Tibor

Thanks for the info for this bait boat i do like the function of the anker and the top loading function compared to my Gowi osprey but my osprey does have have a 500 meter range and sonar which will give it a stronger signal plus there's 900 spots you can program in or replace but it did cost more and is bigger i do like the fact that the osprey has everything on the handset screen which does make it easier but still the problem of bright sunlight though like i said i do like the functions size and price of this one though thanks for the comprehensive review on this one though simon 👍

The size is a major selling point for me, i'd always been put off in the past about the size and weight considering how much other gear we already tend to lug around these days. If i end up fishing somewhere that allows bait boats and i fancied trying one out, i would definitely look to one of this size.

Doesn't matter the size of lake you're on there are always spots you can only reach with a boat like under trees on an island etc as stated in the video.

I pretty much always use a inline lead with the swivel pinched so it is free running after the very initial pick up and have for most of my carp fishing years so back to when they first came out - before that it was a swivel bomb with a bead free running (yeah back in the 80's) and even on lakes where the fish have really bad mouth its rare to get a hook pull. I use sharp but not super sharp hooks as well they I find have more problems as a small dink against a stone and there burred back in the day it was always a split shot a bit down from the hook now days its tungsten putty to basically pull the hook downwards and like you I vary where the hair leaves the hook depending on bottom, wafter or pop up but again even with bottom baits I use tungsten. Also re you comments about playing fish - its what i fish for the fight - I use 2 3/4 test curve rods and don't bully the fish unless there heading for something nasty and prefer to wait till there ready to come into the net rather than rush things and like you I do a lot of playing them on the clutch as well. Had a lovely time trying playing a lovely 28lb common at my local lake the last weekend which in total probably took me about 10 mins till it was ready. I have never understood the reel it in as fast as possible after waiting for a couple of hours I prefer to take my time and enjoy the fight

No idea of the name of the rig but Elliott Gray was the first person i saw piercing the tubing with a needle to thread the line through. He's been using it for donkeys years and uses a split shot below the tubing and he almost always uses it with a popup.

Hi Simon, just revisiting this video as I’m tying up rigs specifically for margin fishing. Do you have a go to starting length for this, I’ll be using a mesh stick and bottom bait. The bait around it will be fairly tight….. my initia thoughts are to fish short soft hooklinks but the confusion now is, the bottom is soft (maybe not as soft in edge) but fish generally 30-50lb any guidance v welcome
@SimonDewCarpFishing
@SimonDewCarpFishing 23 күн бұрын
Hi mate, I would start around 7 inches and yes a supple braid would be good. I would normally go shorter for margin situations as the fish tend to feed slowly without moving too much but you've got a softer bottom and large average size of fish so 7 inches is about right. The lead shouldn't sink in too much as you're only lowering it in the edge rather than casting but it's worth checking it's sitting right if the water is clear enough to see the bottom 👍

The reason why the people who run Korda and Nash fly around in private jets is because they've mastered the art of convincing carp anglers that they need 10 to 12 separate bits of tiny, fiddly, overpriced plastic, metal and silicone widgets (all made in China for pennies) to attach a bait to a hook.

Long shank hooks are by far the best just look at the underwater dvds especially number 1 !!!
@SimonDewCarpFishing
@SimonDewCarpFishing 27 күн бұрын
Longshanks are great for hooking fish as stated in the video but unfortunately they can lead to more hookpulls and mouth damage which is why fewer people use them these days. The same effect can be achieved with shrink tube but without the negative effects 👍

Fair enough mate and I hear what you're saying but the fish are super twitchy on this lake due to it being small and heavily pressured. A boat is simply a tool to get your rig out stealthily. I still walk around and bait up by hand but it's impossible to cast to the spots without making too much disturbance. Technology is here to stay in Carp fishing, we may as well embrace it 👍

@@SimonDewCarpFishing I agree with what your thinking fella on all your points made & you've had some excellent results. I like the rigs, the deft baiting approach, the location on the reed line. I liked the ambience, the way you've presented the whole video, I certainly couldn't do this to the high standards you do 👏👏. Been fishing myself since 1982 & have never brought myself to use a remote boat, just can't & don't fish waters that do. It's a personal thing. Yes, this rig has got a name. I came up with it in the early1990s on Savay lake. ( which is a story in itself). I named it the' Loaded rig'.. Its since been reinvented numerous times by others and not fully understood by many too. Obviously convergent evolution does occur with rig development. At least you were honest and said you didn't invent it!
@SimonDewCarpFishing
@SimonDewCarpFishing Ай бұрын
I spoke to a guy who said he's been using it or something similar since the late 80s just goes to show it's almost impossible to come up with something completely "different" most rigs are just a variation on something that's come before. I do love this rig though and how it combines the anti tangle properties of a D rig with the turning capabilities of a combined style rig.

Love your videos, keep up the good work 👍 I came across your "My new favourite carp fishing rig" video from 6 months ago, I'm curious if you're still using this 6 months on or tweaked/found something better? I've always done well on simple hair rigs with silicone trapping the hair on the bend close to the hook point and using bottom baits straight out of the bag, but have found the hair wrapped around the hook a few times so want something less prone to tangles. Thanks
@SimonDewCarpFishing
@SimonDewCarpFishing Ай бұрын
Hi there. I do chop and change rigs a bit depending on where I'm fishing etc but generally I like to use a D rig of some sort to avoid hair tangles. Especially on lakes with lots of silver fish you seem to wind in with tangled hairs quite often even when using foam or Pva bags etc. A D rig never tangles and I've found them super effective 👌
