Nice work! Generally, caps only fail if the gear was left on all the time, like for years in an 'always on' studio; or had years of consistent usage. Sounds like a pristine unit that was rarely used - score!! 🪙

The more I listen the more I lean comedy. Like. The lingering on the headless part. It's kinda scary that this might be real though.

Hey Syd, I have a couple Behringer S16 stage boxes that have sporadic output gain surges. Do you think that's something you could fix?
@SydHeresyАй бұрын
oh wow! That's a good one. Do they do it in "standalone mode" as well or just when hooked up to a console? Really wild that you have two that are doing that. I just looked online and I don't see this issue popping up either. 🤔
@garymaupin676Ай бұрын
The first one did it while connected to a X32 rack, the other was connected to the full size console. They are both intermittent and out of warranty. How can it be setup in stand alone mode or would making it the master clock be another way of saying it?
@SydHeresyАй бұрын
@@garymaupin676 So you can connect the two snakes together for Standalone Mode. The details are in the manual, but basically you make one the FOH unit so it can control head amps form the Stage unit. I also remember testing the one I worked on with headphones. The unit had a way to select which channel you're listening to. Although I'm not sure it'll matter since it's not REALLY one of the outputs. I am wondering if it's a clock/sync related issue, but it's weird that it only effects the outputs. And super annoying that it's random. As far as me working on them goes: I highly recommend a local repair shop over the trouble and expense of sending to me. Often the manufacturer will have a list of places nearby for you to use. If that's still not an option for ya, we can figure out sending it here.
@garymaupin676Ай бұрын

@SydHeresyАй бұрын

@SydHeresy4 ай бұрын
There's no such thing as "too much flux." I find people who say that are just using terrible flux and don't know it yet. Go get some Amtech 559 or 213 and you'll see what I mean. The bottom PAD, not plate, is fine due to all that flux carrying the heat. See, when you use a lot of flux it makes the soldering job way easier. In fact if I could fill a hot tub with flux, setup a soldering station at the bottom of the hot tub with a rebreather for me, I would still bring a syringe of flux down just in case I needed more. It's that good!

Hey, I know this is an old video but I noticed on your Shruthi XT, you are getting the "random" parameters that will come off and on on the LCD from time to time. You can see it around the 11:34 mark. Did you ever figure out what causes this? Mine does the exact same thing and I rebuilt the filter board, thinking it was a power thing like you mentioned but it still happens. Replaced all the CD4051 chips, no change. It works fine but the random parameters popping up on the screen is quite annoying. Everything works well besides that annoying little glitch.
@SydHeresy5 ай бұрын
Hey mate! I built that Shruthi for a client and haven't seen it since. If I remember it right I think it's a side-effect of using pots to change the values. If the system detects a voltage change from say envelope 1 attack it'll display it. So if the pot is on the cusp of the next value it'll cause the system to detect it as a change. I am drawing pretty heavily from memory though. If that is the case I wonder why no one has made a modified FW that would wait for two value increments to change instead of one. Doesn't seem like a lot of work.
@justindpeak5 ай бұрын
@@SydHeresy Ahh, that makes perfect sense. After reading what you wrote, any parameter that popped up on the screen, I tried adjusting it a tad and that seemed to make it go away. Surprised the firmware wasnt updated like you mentioned. I am also surprised there wasnt more mention of this online. I search and searched and never saw anything about this. Thanks for taking the time to reply back, really appreciate it!

@@justindpeak No problem! It's funny, now that you mentioned it I thought it was wild that I couldn't find any mention of this issue either. I kinda half-thought it was a mistake in the build, but hearing you had the same issue brings me back to thinking it's just a bug in making it an XT
