The more I listen the more I lean comedy. Like. The lingering on the headless part. It's kinda scary that this might be real though.

Hey Syd, I have a couple Behringer S16 stage boxes that have sporadic output gain surges. Do you think that's something you could fix?
@SydHeresy3 ай бұрын
oh wow! That's a good one. Do they do it in "standalone mode" as well or just when hooked up to a console? Really wild that you have two that are doing that. I just looked online and I don't see this issue popping up either. 🤔
@garymaupin6763 ай бұрын
The first one did it while connected to a X32 rack, the other was connected to the full size console. They are both intermittent and out of warranty. How can it be setup in stand alone mode or would making it the master clock be another way of saying it?
@SydHeresy3 ай бұрын
@@garymaupin676 So you can connect the two snakes together for Standalone Mode. The details are in the manual, but basically you make one the FOH unit so it can control head amps form the Stage unit. I also remember testing the one I worked on with headphones. The unit had a way to select which channel you're listening to. Although I'm not sure it'll matter since it's not REALLY one of the outputs. I am wondering if it's a clock/sync related issue, but it's weird that it only effects the outputs. And super annoying that it's random. As far as me working on them goes: I highly recommend a local repair shop over the trouble and expense of sending to me. Often the manufacturer will have a list of places nearby for you to use. If that's still not an option for ya, we can figure out sending it here.
@garymaupin6763 ай бұрын
@@SydHeresy O.K. that makes sense. I'll do some testing and try to "trigger" the condition.

Oh boy x3! all the electo caps have crapped out and ruined all but one solder pad 😅time to find the schematic and see if I can’t work something out
@SydHeresy3 ай бұрын
Oh no! The schematic is easy to find. it's listed as Service Notes. If the damage is just limited to the pads touching the cap then you should be in good shape as they're pretty simple. But I did have some corrosion that ate at an adjacent cap. It killed the cap, but the pads were fine.

I made the mistake to use WD40 that I sprayed between the stucked keys. It did a great job at taking out the stickiness BUT there is now no sound coming out of those keys. It's like those keys don't make contact anymore with the electronics. It's a Roland XP80 that I bought in 1996.

Do you recall which capacitors specifically had the issue? I've got one with a similarly wonky screen, but the rapid power cycling trick that seems to work for so many doesn't help with mine, and I can't see any obvious issues with the capacitors or anything else, and I've already replaced the battery. I've seen someone else mention 3 surface-mount capacitors having issue but nobody's pointed out which ones specifically
