What is the white box that's attached to the plane towards the end?
@Revalderson7 күн бұрын
The white box attached to the plane is what we called a GPU (ground power unit). Essentially, it provides electrical power to the aircraft to keep the systems operating without draining the aircraft battery to do the same work. It can be attached to the aircraft upon arrival or just before departure (depends on the airline policy or pilot preference). About 90% of the time, the GPU is what the pilot uses to start the engine(s).

Do you have to be a lead to do the plane backup? Gosh! this interesting and I enjoyed you a lot!
@Revalderson7 күн бұрын
Hey 👋 @charleyyoung262, thanks for watching, and I'm happy that these videos spark your interest. Regards driving the aircraft pushback (pushing back the plane), NO, you don't have to be a lead to drive same BUT most companies won't train you to pushback the aircraft without being a lead.

What happened to the airline
@RevaldersonАй бұрын
The airline is good, nothing is wrong. It's just that I or anyone from my company won't be doing ramp service for them anymore (contract expired). Pacific Coastal will now hire their own ramp agents to service their aircraft rather than contracting said job out to an external party.
@yvr2002rtwАй бұрын
I guess passengers flying Pacific Coastal should make sure they use the washroom prior to boarding and avoid drinking too much water and eating large meals!
@RevaldersonАй бұрын
Yep, passengers should be able to survive atleast 3hrs (180mins) without the restroom. These flights are normally between 45mins to 90mins but I added some reserve time just in case the aircraft needs to hold for couple minutes and/or divert back to the same airport that they came from (happens more frequently in the winter due to low visibility/fog). With that said, I do believe that some of Pacific Coastal Airline aircrafts have a lavatory on board.

you can't run a ramp without any hectic days, we had a rare 737 (cargo) come in that I had marshalled in with maybe having 2 wingwalkers and I had to put the nose chocks in and push the crew stairs up, and I don't hold a title even though i've been at the company for over 2.5yrs 🤣

For me as a ramp agent it depends sometimes I work 8 hours”until my last flight” or 10 hours “until my last flight” Working in the airline business is really fun there’s a lot of downtime while you wait for your plane to arrive lol. It’s like getting paid to do nothing , but don’t get me wrong it’s a hard job but it’s a lot of fun to me anyways 👍 Btw welcome to to ramp family ❤️

Thanks for the video, it was really informative - really cool seeing the inner workings to get us all up and over to our destinations safely. Would you happen to know anything about bringing removable lithium ion batteries for mobility devices onboard? I know I can bring one, its under 300 WH - I have the 2024 IATA regulation certificate that I bring, but can I bring 2 of them? I have a spare and was curious. Thanks for any info. Subbed!
@Tofu693 ай бұрын
No hate but im curious as to why your marshaller brought in the plane with stuff still in the OSZ? cones, chocks, the tractor, all potential hazards and Ik for a fact alaska air doesn't allow for that
@RevaldersonАй бұрын
Shouldn't be there for Alaska but we can keep chocks and sometimes cones for all the other airlines that we do.
@iiCautious20 күн бұрын
To add on to this service providers have their own SOP which sometimes does not adhere or follow the airline policy. This is all very dependent on the circumstances

Why does it matter who opens doors lol
@Revalderson4 ай бұрын
It is more about inspecting the doors and areas around same for any damages before opening. This is one of the main responsibilities of the lead person when doing his "walk around" after the arrival of the aircraft and before departure. Also. The lead is normally the person with the most experience and can better identify any form of inconsistencies/damages to the fuselage.

Does the ramp agent get free food at the airport?? What does "lead" mean??
@Revalderson4 ай бұрын
Sadly we don't get free food from the airport 😕, however, we do get a 10% discount. I believe that this discount is applicable at any airport within the country (Canada). Regarding a "lead", a lead is like a team captain of a sport team (soccer, football, ect).He/she is the person that is responsible for assigning the duties to his/her team regarding the safe operation around the aircraft during pre-arrival, arrival, post arrival and departure.
