A wildcard I wonder about is Iran and whether Trump will resume sanctions. Also, how much teeth will the recent clampdown on uninsured tankers shipping Russian oil have on supply. Could force China to buy more from the open market again as their Russian supplies could be curtailed. Not only would these two things accelerate supply contraction but would be nice to significantly tighten the screws on Russia's chief source of foreign income.

Thanks Eric. Been a fund-holder for a very long time now, at (?? least 10 years now). I knew tax-loss selling was going to be tough, but probably something to take advantage of. Frankly, I'm happy to pay your fees as I can't take the time to do it myself. I have price-limit orders in now on Income & your Equity funds... Hoping a lot of losers let my bids get hit. Merry Christmas to you and all you care about.

I sold my VRN (which I renamed Venereal Disease stock) at a loss yesterday; it was eating my net worth away. Sold MEG Energy today because it already has lost me some money, and it usually has a fire or some disaster. I sold my Baytex (recommended by Eric) at a huge loss. Bad year for me.

@@kmilton1593 Great timing that you sold VRN. Up .25 today. VRN produces 190,000 barrels per day. This trend down obviously is nearing an end. VRN is drastically undervalued. Fear selling will deplete your portfolio faster than anything. Good luck. Hope you buy back in to enjoy the ride in 2025 !!

I find it hard to believe that the entire oil market is wrong and you two are right. Crude prices (WTI) topped out March of '22 and has been slowly falling since. Sorry, can't believe this is due to low inventories and/or lack of production. Now maybe a lack of monitored and measured production. Oh yeah...most probable but it's production nevertheless. There's too much oil on the market and waiting to come on to the market. That's why prices are down.

Pretty funny interview. There is not a disconnect between data and "sentiment", whatever that is, but plenty of data points that actually confirm what's going on. To suggest that OPEC has extending cuts quarter after quarter just for "sentiment" reasons is ridiculous. Weak demand for crude, China crumbling, super strong non-OPEC (incl. outside US/Shale), gigantic spare capacity by OPEC... The way inventories are handled here is also simply wrong. Today, OPEC has cut its own demand outlook, actually "forced" to cut because they already look ridiculous. These so called "perma-bulls" are just delusional. Nutt guy should interview Aramco head next time and ask him why even Aramco did not go from 12 to 13 mbd. I suspect this interview is paid by OPEC, trying desperately to create a narrative.

Thank you so much Amrita for educating and providing confirmation to Mr. Nuttall on the oil markets. ( but I can't wait another decade to see the Oil Patch prosper , am 77 already). I would think that Saudis' oil reserves are not infinite, so therefore they probably have incentive to show discipline in selling their production; hopefully they remain steady in sales. Wind farms have been over-hyped by clueless greenies: sadly government incentives on new builds has been the driver: a few years ago in Texas, hot weather, no wind = only 8.3% efficiency. And environmental cost of wind farm cleanups, new blades, etc, is huge. So oil is the only way to go. Canada's clueless and corrupt prime minister and minister of environment are incompetent.

Has anyone watched the Land Man series on Paramount starring Billy Bob Thornton? He explains oil's place in the world like a smart Texas oil man would. How about our CNQ? Their low production cost and 90% ownership and longevity make them a big player. Trump won't put tariffs on out oil which goes to the US Midwest. Folks won't pay more with the new sheriff in town.
