I'm glad I watched this! I didn't realize my Onyx A/M-24 could be converted to manual only mode. That's good because I'm a kayaker and paddleboarder who gets wet a lot. A friend told me you could make it manual only. I read the instructions but could not find the yellow "manual" cap or the pocket that contains it. It's really hidden! Once I watched this video, it all became obvious.

@OnyxOutdoor Is there a way to adjust how much the firing pin protrudes or retracts? I just bought two A/M 24 All Clear and was going through the initial arming process. The first one was good and even test-inflated fine. The second one however, came with the firing pin already protruding so much over the rubber ring that the CO2 canister would just get punctured if I screw it in. Looking for a way to adjust / fix it the pin before returning it as defective.

Great video. Which Onyx flotation jacket ( for kayaking) can be used with which CO2 pull cord inflatable life jacket? If you wanted the maximum safety/buoyancy option at sea, I am wondering if you could comfortably get two of these working together? or is the inflatable belt the only realistic option, for use with a flotation jacket?

My friend pulled the pull cord before I installed the CO2 cartridge. Do you know how to get the cord back into the housing before I install the cylinder?

FYI this life jacket is a POS, I’ve spent over $100 dollars on redress kits and still have not been able to arm. At $40 per redress kit…let’s just say it starts to suck real quick. The instructional video seems simple enough right. When you install this so called dissolving bobbin it stated to thread all the way down. This unfortunately forces the bobbin to travel all the way through the bobbin carrier. But you don’t know this. What this causes is the vest to be activated prior to installing the C02 cartridge. In the video and instructions it states to thread Co2 cartridge all the way down. Trust me before you reach bottom the activation pin that was locked into place while installing the bobbin will now pierce the Co2 cartridge and inflate the vest. Onyx will now appreciate the $40 plus tax for the next redress kit and wish you good luck on setting the vest up once again. Myself and I’m sure many like me are well over the cost of the best initial cost trying to figure out how to arm it without inflating it. Advice from me is to not purchase this POS to begin with…I’m not the smartest guy around but I deal with some pretty complex things. Dear Onyx….GFY

How about the FIRST TIME USE "GET READY" INSTRUCTIONS. all the instructions put on it is a REARM but not a primary first time use.

This video is dead wrong. I have one of these with the BASS PRO brand name - I have a rearm kit for the A/24 In-SIGHT and there is not any way to insert the gas cartridge. Typical BASS PRO SHOP - I no longer shop there.

I use a manual one for swimming. After five years the blow tube broke off so I bought another and tested the new one with the old and rusty C02 canister from the broken one. It inflated pronto once I pulled hard enough. It was less the force than to know which direction to pull in - away from the C02 canister mouth.

I get it. The truck has a jacuzzi inside. You need the vests in case you pass out on gin tonic. The fish, you buy at a shop.

I just hate the idea of extra expenses of buying CO2 cartridges. Does anyone know if those Crosman BB gun CO2 works?? Last time I check these CO2 life vest cartridges were over $20.

Excellent instructional video. I ought to know, I produced instructional videos for many years before the KZbin era. This one will allow me not to waste another replacement canister due to improper understanding. Well executed - thank you! Other manufacturers should watch this to see how it's done.

Regardless of what type you buy, do you really want to buy one the same color as the water? So many life jackets are blue and gray or black. This is foolish. Make it easy for people to see you in the water.

Suggestions for an 11 year old who is 110lbs and not the strongest swimmer...activity will be canoeing and paddleboarding. I am thinking the inflatable would be best as it will keep her head up better!...I'm presuming auto?

The amount of people I see boating with no PFDs and with kids too is a very sad sight, the law should be a lot stricter on this issue.

Trash…that’s all I have to say about the system. Parts missing…not assembled properly, instructions are a nightmare to read and decipher. ONYX must be making millions on redress kits for this POS

Purchased 2 of these, read the manuel thoroughly. Installed the Co2 cylinder and bang inflated it. Guess what…that will cost $28.00 dollars. Have watched multiple videos but can’t seem to find the right one for initial or re-arm. Word of advice…do not try to install Co2 if red indicator is visible…period. If the actuator is set properly it will be green in the site window. Onyx must be making millions on accidental inflations at $30.00 per pop. What a scam…I disassembled my actuator and the bobbin had been installed upside down. Word to the wise….before trying to arm this POS ask someone who knows…maybe it will save you some hard earned cash…if not your life. Good job Onyx and the sweat shop people you pay to assemble these so called life saving devices
