A'ight, a clarification on the e-Reader. It was for the distribution of the Eon Ticket, which can be downloaded to Ruby, Sapphire, or Japanese Emerald via the e-Reader using Mystery Event, since international Emerald versions removed compatibility with it. (There is no European/North American version divide for English Pokémon games except in Platinum) To get the Ticket on International Emerald, you need to mix records with a game that downloaded it directly. Deoxys - or to be more specific, a small code payload that gives the item and sets the flag to go CATCH Deoxys (Gen 3 Mystery Gift can't distribute Pokémon - Gen 3 Pokémon distributions were handled via multiboot using a link cable) - was distributed by Mystery GIFT, not Event. Mystery Gift uses the Wireless Adapter both on the end of your own copy of FireRed, LeafGreen or Emerald AND on the end of the distribution GBA. If you want it via the Mostly Original Hardware method, you'll need an extra flashcart and two Wireless Adapters. Alternately, DS homebrew exists that will directly set the flags without the need for traditional save editing, but it might not play nice with your flashcart. That said, you using a flashcart and not an official Emerald cartridge technically means that it's not entirely real hardware. But flashcarts have more reliable RTCs, so I do the same. I just don't have HDMI on my GCN yet.

It's funny that it takes you to the special stage. I remember that when I tried to emulate a lock on with a program it would try to read data from the Sonic 3 Proto rom (using the addresses for S3A) resulting in a corrupted version of S3K that would reboot after the Sega chant, although I suppose it was the program itself that was to blame for this different result.

you should try something like _Toy Story & Knuckles_ ...just because. (And I was always curious as for what kind of blue sphere stage that would give, lol)
