Usually, when I'm sightreading a song, I try to mention it right before I start playing it. Most of the songs in this particular steam (apart from the first one or two) were sightreads, I think

So you're drumset is triggering the game. How do you have that mapped? Are you actually playing the song on the drumset like you would live?

Yep! I'm using a MIDI-to-USB cable to connect the drum module to the PC, then the internal settings in the Clone Hero game to assign the MIDI output from each drum to the right note in the game. Especially since Clone Hero supports dynamics (loud/quiet hits), this is pretty close to how I would play the song live on a kit this size, with the main difference being the lack of a representation of the hihat pedal in Clone Hero

Feels nostalgic to watch you again man, used to watch you heavily during RB2 era and what a legend in the RB community in my eyes. What brought you back into the game? I’m 24 now and I myself have got a strong sense of getting my ions out and just jamming out again. I’ve been playing guitar recently and plugging back in my PS3 just to play old favorites if i have spare time on my off days. But if i had Clone Hero…sheesh

I never fully stopped playing the game, just stopped uploading to KZbin haha, I've been streaming intermittently on Twitch. Honestly what inspired me to start uploading here again is when I unexpectedly FC'd The Woven Web on Twitch, and one of the last videos I'd uploaded to KZbin was also of The Woven Web, so I thought it would be funny to upload an FC video almost 10 years later, implying that I had just been doing nothing but grinding that same song for the past 10 years lol. You should definitely bust out the Ions and play some Clone Hero!

What is so crazy is how much harder in real life it still is. With Mangini having such a monster kit on tour for this song, a lot of the passages used similar heads but different constantly. So while you hit the notes correctly, the game couldn’t differentiate that he was using double amount of drums to play the same section.

I don't think this exact model is available anymore since I got it in 2007 😅 -- a Roland TD-6V kit (SX-T bundle). The closest equivalent available today is probably the Roland TD-17KV2 Generation 2 V-Drums Kit a.co/d/d2etPYL

In principle they can work if your drum kit has rim triggers. I'm just not good enough at gravity rolls to test them out personally 😅
