The verb "gostar" (to like) is a verb that requires the "de"...only a very small group of verbs require the "'de"...most don't.

that's just the way the language works...some verbs like "gostar" will always need to go along with a preposition like "de". Others require "a", as with "começar" (começar a...). You'll just have to learn as you go which verbs require a preposition.

This was just an intro video of the easiest sounds to pronounce for an English speaker. I was going to do separate videos for those :)

The “é que” literally means “is it that”….kind of like the difference between “what are you doing” and “what is it that you’re doing”. Adding the “é que” to a question is very common in the spoken language

Yeah, "adore" is the English cognate, but I agree that that's not something that many native speakers would say (at least guys)...I would never say that either, I think my buddies would clown the hell out of me if they heard me say that :) "adorar" on the other hand, is very common...with similar languages such as English and Romance languages, it can be tricky navigating these similar sounding words and think of them of direct equivalents, when they in fact they have different nuances in terms of tone and formality.

if you're worried that using "adoro" would make you sound like you're from the 1800's, here are a few examples of it being used by young guys in a very natural way: 1) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJu1dXeZhpyKgtk ("mas eu adoro jiu-jitsu") 2) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIW8iWylZ5KoadE ("Como eu adoro jiu-jitsu, eu amo o esporte") 3) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJSmgmekq8aNq8k ("Eu adoro jiu-jitsu, adoro MMA")

In these contexts, "adoro" is used in the same way most native English speakers would use "love".

Hey Tom! In the parts of the song where she uses "você", it wouldn't be possible to replace it with "te" because it functions as a subject pronoun (i.e, "Onde você anda, onde está você?"). The "te" is used in the song as an object pronoun (i.e., "Não te encontrar"/"de um dia te ter ao meu lado"). In colloquial Brazilian Portuguese, "você" is often also used as an object pronoun, so you'll hear people say "Eu vi você" as well as "Eu te vi", and "Eu amo você" as well as "Eu te amo". Hope this helps!

@@DecodingWordswithAndrew Hey, Andrew. Thanks for your reply. I was more thinking about the first line, "Não é fácil não pensar em você". In this sentence "você" appears to function as an object pronoun. At least that's how it works in English, "it's not easy not thinking about you" with "it" being the subject (or dummy subject) and "you" being the object. Also in Spanish, "No es fácil no pensar en ti" uses "ti" which is an object pronoun. Why doesn't she say "não te pensar"?

Actually, after a preposition like "em", it would be possible use "ti" just like in Spanish (pronounced just like "te" but with a different spelling). It's much more common in Brazilian Portuguese to say "em você" though..."em ti" is used more in European Portuguese.
