Will watching my favorite tv show in portuguese help? Was thinking of binging all of Star Trek to see if id get anywhere in learning.

If you're just a beginner and don't understand anything, it probably won't help much. If you're more intermediate and understand at least 60-70%, then yes.

I will, it's just that right now my focus is on building my course and making sure my students in it are getting the prioritization that they deserve. Once I finish the course I will then shift my focus back to the channel!

Eu gosto de ler. Eu adoro ler. (???) Por que nao "Eu adoro de ler"? Second lesson and I'm confused. Is there a rule to connecting "de" with the verb?
@DecodingWordswithAndrew7 күн бұрын
The verb "gostar" (to like) is one of the few verbs that require the "de" after. Most verbs like "adorar" (to love) to do not.
@MarkAna7773 күн бұрын
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew BTW- I agree with many of the other comments; your videos are very informative. You are the only video instructor (that I've found) that shows and explains tongue placement for annunciation. This is extremely beneficial for these "unnatural" sounds.

this is the most useful, concise, easy to follow and productive presentation of Portuguese conjugation i have seen- well done my friend. You are good. The only suggestion I have is lets save time and prevent unnecessary effort, I would not read Portuguese translation of examples you show in English since translation is already written on the screen.
@DecodingWordswithAndrew10 күн бұрын
I appreciate it! Yes, I did this video a year and a half ago...looking back I definitely wouldn't have read the translations again. You'll see in my Top 100 Portuguese Verbs conjugated video, I only read the Portuguese

I just started learning Portuguese a couple of days ago and this channel has been my best resource yet. I do have a question. You mention that the letter "o" is pronounced as "u" as the English word "boot". Why can I still hear the "o" sound when you pronounce it? For example, in the Portuguese word "vivo" I can still hear the "o" sound and not "vivu". Thank you.

I love channels like this where they teach you the casual every day s Portuguese you would hear from native speakers when you’re out and about! I was already fluent in Spanish and somewhat familiar with Portuguese, but I started getting serious about learning more about the language about a year ago. This channel seems like a great resource for learning more about casual Portuguese so I am definitely subscribing.
