I drilled a window unit in my old house that didn't have central air. It was collecting water and making all kinds of strange gurgling noises. So yeah, I drilled. Hit the refrigerant reservoir, which made a hissing noise far more intimidating than the previous gurgling noises. Of course it no longer blew cold air. Wouldn't recommend drilling.

I drilled holes into the finned aluminum part on the back wall of the ac.....I wonder why it stopped working.

Not the case in most costal areas. Excess moisture bogs it down. Hard to dissipate moisture when it is 91% humiditities out.

You need a new system, that'll be 12k. I can live in my bedroom for 3 months for 200.

Thank you for this video, this was exactly the problem with my water heater. I watched other videos which led to them saying to replace the gas valve, but I was still not convinced. Then I saw your video and without even trying it I knew it was going to work. Thanks a lot, you saved me money.

I’m planning on stripping the wires on the pigtail of the switch end and using wire nuts. Same difference in a nutshell correct? Whether I hear back or not I’m doing this and only I am responsible for my diy shenanigans. Either way thanks for not making that a 35 min video. You the man brother!

I can't seem to find a Midea AC that has the M-shield button on it, even the ones sold on Amazon. Could you provide a link to one that you know has M-shield?

Based on tread left on that tire, it needs to be replaced rather than repaired. That said, great video. Thanks!

I put one or two condensate pan tablets in the evaporator coils when cleaning the filter and in the back after spraying out the back. It seems to take care of the smell and keep the evaporator drain clear. It doesn't seem to collect much water during normal use. I live in NE Oklahoma, and the summers are generally dry here. In the spring, I spray the evaporator coil with a pump sprayer to rinse any accumulated dust off.

I didn't open a toddler's toy for about a year after I received, and the manufacturers already put in batteries to be "helpful". Big mistake. The positive battery contacts corroded to the point of being rusted. Vinegar helped to remove some of the rust, but using a Dremel to remove the rest of the rust revived the toy once again.

I use this ac cleaner it works great tip for cleaning these things on a regular basis these things werent really made to be taken apart. make sure unit is off what i did was cut out 4 of the airhole slot fins in the left side just big enough to get my shop vac hose thru and bam now u have access to keep this thing clean i recommend running clr overnight twice a month to keep corrosion down. If the unit is covered in crap youll probably have to disassemble and clean like he did my method is to keep it clean i do this without ever pulling it from the window. Use this methond and the outside pan part of the ac will be clean year round it will break up crap that was stuck in there too so be prepared to shop vac it a few timesnfor the first week. there is mildew in the styrofoam front side of ac u can take off the front grill and bleach clean really good and tape a rag to a big screwdriver and use it as a cleaning tool for styrofoam front area and hole.

The weep holes plug up with bugs and junk within weeks. The flinger can't keep up with high humidity. Drill it.

Youre not in florida and the humidity of the south...even withbadequate tilt and a clean new pan the water grows a mass of algae in just days clogging the slinger ..the water then runs into the house or wall. I still put a hole in to help. As a landlord i can attest that noone cares about the unit until it stops working. Usually the temp setting is too low also and the water output is way higher then.

@HandymanHertz
@HandymanHertz Күн бұрын
To check for air, leaks, or gas leaks, put a squeeze of Dawn dish soap into water and shake it up and spray it. If there's a leak, it will bubble up.

The stupid part is that air conditiong manufacturers are too dumb to design the unit with drain holes. This is done on purpose to shorten unit life. So you have to go buy another one. Greed is the issue in design.

I see the problem here. Duracell has gone to hell in a basket the last few years. I've stopped buying them because their batteries have ruined 3 devices for me and I've even had a package of Duracell AAA's leak before they were even taken out of the package. Duracell used to be a good brand but their qc or production has gone into the tank.

Rather it be a little less efficient and not grow tons of red and green sludge. Also flinging water keeping the side of my house soaking wet along with rotting out all the A/C components way prematurely cutting its effective life in half

I was going to comment but after reading a few I realized there's no sense in it. I've been around a long time and done a lot of things, and through critical thinking and reasoning I've experimented so much "Let's Run A Test' is in my DNS. But I'm not enough of a man to take the slams and dunks the Internet delivers. So my comments will go to my grave along with all the knowledge I've amassed. So my comment is "No Comment." Bye

😂😂😂😂😂 a great example on how to burn a sawzall lol just because you have a bigger battery doesn't mean the tool will do better. 😂😂 I've had my dewalt sawzall for about 10 years now with the small packs and the beast runs smooth all the time. Put a big battery pack on it and run it like that, you're gunna kill the tool. 😂
