So MAGICAL! I pre-booked the balloon through Klook (link in description) I think the prices vary depending on season so best to check your own dates. Otherwise most of the hotels will have options to book through them which may be cheaper.

The caves were whole cities with churches and homes etc! I believe people still live in them today, but a lot of it seems to have been commercialised for tourism. Definitely a fascinating place!

Izmir is a great base for day trips to Ephesus, Pamukkale and nearby beaches. If you like eating and shopping, there's also lots of markets to explore. We stayed at 'The New Hotel Zeybek' and it was an excellent location!

That's so exciting! I'm not 100% sure as this was a very last minute chaotically booked trip which made it more $$$! But I have a few blog posts and Tik Toks with more of a breakdown of costs from previous NZ trips. This is a beautiful video. What were the accommodations like? I am considering this trip but information on the Intrepid website about the accommodations is vague, which is a little concerning. I am not seeking 5 star hotels but I would like a realistic sense of where we’ll be staying.

Thank you! The accomodation was better than I'd anticipated (honestly my expectations were quite low). Think basic 3 star accomodation but clean and comfortable. I would make sure you mentally prepare for the overnight train though, because that was definitely an experience!
