I'm a Yakuza fan that recently started Trails with Sky FC (just got done with it and am currently chipping away at SC) so I feel like me stumbling upon this video is a sign from Aidios to continue the series.

Ayyy another Yakzua/Trails fan out in the wild! Good luck with SC, it's almost twice as long as FC 😅 luckily 3rd is the shortest of the trilogy. It'll probably be very weird once you eventually get to this moment further into the series xD

May get the demo just to see how it performs on the switch. X really has that Wind Waker feel to it that hits all the right notes for me.

I like some modern graphics (Expedition 33 for example) but the cel-shaded/anime stuff just has that timeless look to it. Like Wind Waker! Hope you have fun! This game looks like it'll be a treat 👌

Just recently finished playing through all the Ys games (or at least a version of every game) excited for ten! Assasins creed black flag was one of my favorites as a kid so seeing ship combat always gets me excited

This game and Pirate Yakuza both have cool looking ship combat and sea exploration... they know exactly where to hit me xD I guess Wind Waker as a kid really started my love for those types of mechanics

I have to say its pretty enjoyable but the lock on system could have done with work with the way combat his handled. It's still made for single character control

My game of the year is Fate/Stay Night, but that is neither here nor there. xD Ys X looks like a PS4 game, which is fine by me. Anime, cell-shaded, and chibi graphics over hyper realistic graphics every single time. I appreciate that most of these new games have demos, but I am already buying Ys X, so I'll just wait for the full game. It's helpful for people who are on the fence though. I always enjoy listening to you ramble on, Cyrus. <3

Of all the games this year that's an unexpected choice! But as a VN enjoyer myself I'm not surprised, they can be insanely good writing and character wise. Preach brother! I don't mind more realistic graphics but I definitely prefer those you listed myself. They also age better, Wind Waker is a classic example. I love that so many games are getting demos now, really helps sell the games more than trailers imo. Pfft, appreciate that xD

@@Cyrus_Bright It may be unexpected, but it's true. I have also been playing Fate/Grand Order since April or May. That is near the top of my favorite games of the year as well. If you can get past the fact that it is a gacha game, it has an excellent story.

The original vision was way darker it seems. i think FF15 royal edition is a good FF game. The vanilla left a lot to be desired.

Hi cyrus! Versus 13 was and still is one of the most interesting canceled videogames ever, i don't like nomura and final fantasy but i still think it's super cool, especially the long trailer with bits of (fake) gameplay! Nice video as always!

Yoko Shimomura composed the soundtrack for Final Fantasy XV and the song that played during the Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer was reworked as the song, Somnus from Final Fantasy XV (that's what it sounded like to me anyway). I think Noctis is Tetsuya Nomura's self insert character. Nomura even had that hairstyle at one point. xD There is more footage of Final Fantasy Versus XIII featuring a female character named Stella who I always thought was the realistic version of Namine. Tetsuya Nomura has a type and he is based for it! ;)

The game that never was indeed, haha. I remember being a kid reading gaming magazines, seeing articles on Versus, and being SO excited! I didn't have any Sony systems growing up, so my main exposure to FF games past 6 was magazines and the occasional video, and the idea of a game like that had me so excited. And I was actually quite a big fan of 15 when that came out too! It definitely wasn't the game we were getting from those Versus trailers or teasers, but I still liked Noctis all the same, I loved the vibes of the game, and the story was fun to experience!

This really takes me back. I remember when a good friend of mine showed me this exact trailer. I'm just so relieved that Somnus (the theme playing in this trailer) at least made it into XV proper. It's an absolutely gorgeous piece of music!

And yet the ghosts of Versus XIII will live on in Qudratum in the future of Kingdom Hearts. Nomura never abandons his projects apparently. xD In other news: Holy crap Daybreak II is coming out on Valentine's Day 2025. The hope for a Fall/Winter 2025 release for Kai remains strong!
