Excellent visual and audio transport back to the days when the Jolly Jethro’s meticulously held the throngs of fans and new seekers of the wild eyed piper poet eyes and ears affixed to the melodic orgasm of sight and sound. John Glascock seamlessly blends his style and presence after Jeffery’s departure without missing a bloody beat.

John Evan never got the credit he deserved for helping to make the tull sound with his keyboard playing. Brick was my first concert, and I can still hear John Evans keyboards as if it was yesterday.

Okay, so just what is that little weird, somewhat spooky sound 'fill' starting at 1:45:00 and going for 2 to 3 seconds? I can't tell for sure if Tull inserted that little oddity on purpose, or if it was bleed for an overwritten recording, or what. Thoughts anyone?

All I hear is Black Sunday instrumental
@dacoge
@dacoge 7 күн бұрын
@@jethrotullcollection8446 Yeah, it's just a little weird burst of a somewhat chaotic-sounding departure from the Black Sunday theme. Martin's playing takes a sudden turn into something different, Conway (who I assume was on drums then) breaks into two or three seconds of thrashing, and there's some odd high-pitched squeal from I don't know who or what instrument. No big deal, really. The more I think about it, the more I believe it was just another one those things that make Tull's live performances so special and interesting to listen to. Each song played live has something to it that makes it slightly, if ever so, different from every other time it was played live. Every live recording I've ever heard of, say Aqualung, is its own entity, has its own unique personality among the other Aqualungs, and provides its very own listening experience. Outside and on top of that are examples of unique little twists, fills, reinterpretations, etc., of which I think the ~3 second run I'm referring to is one. Just more evidence of the wonderful musicianship and vast talent that Tull and all its members exemplify. I'll end with saying thank you, @jethrotullcollection8446, for continuing to provide these gems to fellow fans.

Great stuff man. Its hilarious the kind of props and stuff 70s / 80s bands sometimes dragged with them. As a sidenote, Toto also had an obsession with swords. I think their idea about sword was the double edge. Translated into music: they were versatile. Was that Ians message too?

Tull always made the mistake of playing way too many songs from their latest album. 2-3 new songs is plenty. Here you get practically the entire album. Way too much new material.

Tull at their Peak. Saw this at Chicago Stadium and they left that place in a total mind mesmerization of exuberance, elation and exhaustion Still can recall filing out onto Madison and looking at my friend and saying, “ Did we just see and hear what we thought we did”… His reply was a Cheshire Cat smile and a resounding “Hell yes, I still feel it pulsing through my body and mind”… I myself couldn’t just jump in the Chevelle and leave the parking lot. I seemed like I sat there for 1/2 hr till an attendant knocked on the window..I was still basking in the glow of that visual and musical soundscape. I was totally shocked to read the shit slung at them by the dimwitted critics who absolutely trashed them out of spite. I have my theories on that, but still very petty.

Not sure here, but I saw all the tours from 72 through Under Wraps. At that show, he told off the people in the front row for smoking because his throat was hurting. He told them if they didn't knock that sh*t off he was going to cancel the show. He did in fact cancel the second night and flew back to England. Ian was having vocal issues at this point and his voice was deteriorating. He had also canceled at show in Anaheim California in 77 for a throat infection. He had a very natural voice in the 70s but I think it was the smoking that did his voice in.

@@jethrotullcollection8446 The clapping style is not American. Plus, in all the shows I attended, I never heard the vocal chatter and yelling out as I do here, reminiscent of the Phil Collins stories told during Genesis shows between songs. I cannot discern any English being spoken in the video. I suppose it's possible the offenders were drunken American soldiers stationed in Germany.

Fab upload- saw this show at Wembley Arena- May `82. PJV was a brilliant addition to the band and helped IA drag Tull into the `80`s- ok he`s a bit `marmite` but for me his musical ideas; tech awareness and composition/understanding really helped. RIP to GC.
