When we hear the word “counterfeit” we think it’s garbage or useless but looking at it and the weigh test i don’t really see the difference all that much? Gotta cut it open and see more to tell how different they really are. If everything looks identical is it really a big deal? I bought an OEM Toyota filter for my Tacoma at Walmart, a company I trust, but it’s a rarity I find one at my local Walmart so it’s pain to get and I’m not going to the dealer for something like that but I saw on Amazon a pack of 3 filters with 3 new washers for the drain bolt for 21$ but am a little skeptical of how genuine they are.. normally I run Mobil 1 filter or K&N but those are both like twice the price as the OEM one. At the end of the day I don’t think it matters as long as you change it when the vehicle manufacturer says you should be good with whatever filter on there but I like to drive myself crazy thinking about it lol.

So does the counterfeit filter work? It seems it uses more materials, so it may be better than the original. Your video didn’t really have an argument - just that one is original and one is aftermarket. Aftermarket doesn’t mean inferior - perhaps it’s better.
@ilikes-1977 ай бұрын
From what I’ve seen and heard from the Toyota Europe channel, the counterfeit part is less dense than the OEM filter, causing less filtering. A reason for the video too is if you’re out looking for an OEM filter, you want to make sure you are getting what you pay for. At least that’s how I feel

207 grams Vs 173 Grams, the "counterfeit" one uses more materials than the "Authenticate" one. I would say the the 173 grams one is a counterfeit.

Are you sure counterfeit filter is worse than the original one? I watched a few videos where they cut open and compared different filters and one point of comparison was the weight, the heavier the filter the better it was.

am in thailand as well. just bought an yzzn2 oil filter on lazada (thai version of amazon/ebay) for wife's 2016 toyota yaris ativ. this is the newer version of yzze1. seller has a 99% rating based on 500 reviews. only bad review was somebody got the wrong filter. box has the hologram oriented correctly. filter passes all the visual tests shown in the video except weight which i cant verify. even came with a washer for the oil drain nut - toyota charges separately for. almost same price as toyota charged me last oil change. am a few hours drive from nearest dealer so decided to diy. i would swear filter is genuine but seeing this am worried.
