*UPDATE from Wikipedia* (edited): Internet researcher Armin Linder concluded from interviews the song was written by Viennese musicians Christian Brandl (vocals) and Ronnie Urini (drums) in both German and English in 1983. It was recorded in the studio of Fred Jakesch on Mariahilferstraße in Vienna ... Urini confirmed the story and also provided an old typewritten version of the German lyrics. However, Robert Wolf, Brandl's colleague and the frontman of their band Chuzpe, says he cannot recognize Brandl's voice in the song and that the drums sound more like an electronic drum machine than what Urini played in Jakesch's studio.
