One strategy question - playing in a 4.0 mixed tourney where the guy uses a Mod TA and the lady uses a Paddletek bantam TKO-C 14.3 - any suggestions for playing against them? In general, this team is not strong on dinks/soft game - I’m thinking play the soft game and target the lady…

A question I've been asking within my playing group of 4.5'ish + players, "Which is more Valuable, an Aggressive Serve or Return of Serve?" Much like your discussion, opinions are varied and all valid. IMO, the Aggressive Serve is "More Valuable" bc it's the only shot in Pickleball where you are in complete control. You control the drop, type of serve, location based on opponents, and pace. With the return, you are still reacting to what your opponent does therefore adding a level of complexity. I will say, I believe the Return of Serve, is the most under appreciated shot.

Rally scoring is like “arcade mode” it can be fun and a nice switch up but side out scoring is the meat and potatoes. The one issue I have with rally scoring is that each individual player only serves from one side, L or R, the entire match. I think you lose something by never having to serve on the opposite side - that’s why I say it’s like arcade or melee mode and not the true pure form
@linsu2854Күн бұрын
On which is more worse: weak return vs. weak serve, I will offer everyone's favorite answer: It depends. I'm a decent rec player. When I have weak (especially short) return against strong player, they will crush, attack and win a point most of the times. If my opponent is not strong on attacking, then I can survive. When I have a weaker serve, it usually means that I do not get to the kitchen as fast as I can and may be stuck in the mid zone, but if I have the awareness to split step and be in my ready position, I can usually survive and turn things around.

I so get those looks when I am warming up - as if I am holding up the start of games. But, as I keep telling everyone, my mind wants to play pickleball everyday- but my body says 2-3x a week, 2 hours per session. Beyond that, I recognise that I have to build appropriate strength on my legs, back and core, to play much longer. I also find the cool down stretch as important.

For some hard rock and punk Christmas oddities/rareties, check out the albums, Pus Cavern: The Bands That Stole X-Mas, and Pus Cavern: Elves Built My Hot Rod. Pus Cavern was a hole in the wall recording studio from around the 90s, and both albums feature Sacramento bands from the late 90s. I want to try Slyce caps on my paddles but both of them are too new and too expensive to void their warranties. I previously had an 11six24 Hurache-X Control Kevlar 14mm that I mained for 8 weeks before the grit was mostly gone and by week 10 the edge guard started detaching and I wound up shipping it back to them for a warranty replacement.

Hi Gary again, Caden thanks for being a such great sport and reminding us all to be kind in the last episode. Anyone who promotes kindness deserves a 10/10 rating and is a cool dude in my book. Great fun, pickleball advice and stories in your pod today. Hats off to Jordan too for the dozens of lessens I've watched over the months. Slyce Caps are awesome - definitely lowers the balance point and makes the addition of led/tungsten great - you can add tape and the paddle doesn’t feel head heavy or slower with the Slyce installed. That said, the Slyce does increase the static weight significantly so even though it doesn’t feel heavier, it is. That means added power and plow through but players with elbow/wrist/shoulder injuries including tennis or golfers elbow should be careful when installing a Slyce. I had golfers elbow in the past and was symptom free for years until putting on the Slyce, took the Slyce off and the symptoms vanished. Overall would highly recommend for players without elbow/wrist injury history. Keep up the good work guys! Also, order 66 is baby Star Wars from the 2000’s - wonder if Caden has even seen the OG Star Wars 😂

I enjoyed the podcast, strategy segment and Caden’s story segment. I cannot wait for the music for each segment. I have a question that you can hopefully answer. This always happens during open play and when I am a substitute when one of group’s foursome is gone. How do you deal with your partner always playing from the baseline (unless they are the player up on the receiving team), because I move up to the NVZ and they hit a high return and my opponent’s slam the ball at my feet? Also, my partner is always reaching up and even jumping to hit high out balls Would you stay back with your partner, because they never move up to the NVZ? Thank you and I hope that you and Caden have a wonderful day and weekend.

One of the most common mistakes of us old people: not using footwork to give yourself a higher percentage shot. Next most common mistake of any age: using footwork to put yourself in exactly the most disadvantaged position (low volley or short hop) to give yourself a lower percentage shot. I see that *a lot* (eg in camp this week) and it drives me crazy.
