I was there. With my black lab Ike. We camped out at the tent site, we both had a great time and the viewing was great.

A wee bit of furfther info about Jeff Skiles, his last flight was on Sunday, 17 November 2024, when he piloted AA87, a Boeing Dreamliner from LHR to ORD. the day after was his 65th Birthday. He spent about 38 years flying!

Great footage, last time we flew at Deland had a lot of issues with full-size aircraft not maintaining the posted AGL altitude, several aircraft were at tree top level causing lots of safety issues. The RC runway is setup so full-size aircraft taking off from runway 05 fly a heading straight out and not to turn until they are passed the threshold of the RC runway indicated by the large X at the end of the runway....

The older i get, I find old school no BS tools tend to be the absolute best in as far as getting the true shape and finer details. I still use the same 5-6 tools on the regular. This goes for static to R/C stuff. I will admit to being a "tool-horse" or having a "tool fetish" inasmuch as never getting enough of having the right tool for the job, but also finding new uses for old tools (IE: using a good pencil sharpener to bevel styrene tubing/rod). Which tool has changed the game for you folks? @modelaircraft

So you weren’t at the event…. You have no idea how airspace was being coordinated then. I’m not saying you are completely wrong, just saying that you have no clue as to how things were being coordinated.

As an artifact apart of the National Model Aviation Museum's collection we would not take this model out to fly, and the museum does not have any flight footage in its possession. If there is someone out there that has any video or photos of this model in flight, the museum would certainly love to share it!

I would've bought one if it was more reasonably priced. They're really, REALLY proud of their kits, MSRP is $169 before tax for a small box of wood. The value just isn't there. Another company trying to make Ferrari payments from selling $40 worth of materials. Nothing in that box costs more than than $20 or $30 dollars to produce in bulk. It's crazy how people want so much money for things these days, didn't use to be that way, used to be if you could pay your people a living wage, keep the lights on and make 20-25% over the top you had a successful business... Now clowns wanna make 100-150% profit on everything they sell. It can collect dust, I'll just build em from scratch.

Do you glass both sides before going back with the 2nd and 3rd coats? Or do you complete one side, then flip the model over and start again?
