Thanks for posting. This was at the tour bus on the north side of IU Aus after the show. Eric Merrill on violin.

There is a weird high pitched blip and electronic sound at the end. Copyright thing for the program that recorded this?

No that actually happened at the show, I've listened to the audience tapes and the same beep happens

You didn’t love the Dead for the vocals alone. It was the whole thing. Sigh.

Bob Weir had good reason for vehemently roaring, "If I had my way I would tear this old building down," when the Grateful Dead played the Omaha Civic Auditorium on July 5, 1978; the chorus of the galvanic "Samson And Delilah" might have expressed how he and the rest of the band were feeling when they began performing that night at the 11,000-capacity venue for a crowd that reportedly didn't exceed three figures. But if attendance in a town that the Dead hadn't visited in five years was spotty, you'd never know it from the show. The band left it all on the stage that night, and its darting, dynamic reinvention of the traditional gospel-blues tune was the fiery climax of its first set, with Weir declaiming like a fire-and-brimstone revival-tent Baptist preacher. Bobby brought so much passion and energy to the band. ❤

Around this time, Dylan and the Heartbreakers recorded the title track for a movie called Band Of The Hand. And after seeing the positive response to this performance here at Farm Aid, the next summer they embarked on The True Confessions Tour. I saw it and it was great.

Lol, everybody freaking out about the Scarlet just because he forgets some lyrics at the beginning. "Oh my gosh I'm going to freak out! Jerry forgot lyrics!!!" Try again people. This Scarlett Jam that goes into fire and the Fire on the Mountain is top-notch group jamming, and the band sounnds awesome... Jerry is actually pretty on point throughout this whole show but the second set especially is just one big long Kick-Ass jam. The drums in the space is must here, that Scarlett fire jam I told you about, killer monster corrina and days between... Originally went back and listened to the show just because I was there and it was the second to last dead show I saw and out of the 13th 1990 it was definitely in the top five for me. But now I go back and listen to it just because it is so fun to hear the band going for it, and to hear Jerry rally after the night before where he wasn't really rallying.... Anyways, great show, can't believe some of these comments. Probably had a bad attitude going into it, or maybe listen to some 1990 show right before listening to this lol. That's not how you're supposed to do it but anyways

I’d also like to add that when we caught him, he was in line buying a little pink Maui tourist bag filled to the brim with cartons of reds. He was talking to the fella in front of him about new years to which I inquired: are you guys bummed about not playing the colosseum this year to which he replied, “ nah we really did that for bill, so it doesn’t mean so much anymore. Then there was a beat and he said, next year we’re thinking about playing in Australia. I said, I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to that one, and he said “maybe we’ll put it on TV. Twenty years before internet streams and that was his joke…. I felt his kindness, it changed my whole life. If you’re reading this I bet he changed yours too.

I was in a bodega in Maui New Year’s Day 93 and ran into Jerry. I was 13 years old. I told him that we had found out that they were opening spring 93 at rosemont, we were from Chicago, and we were psyched. I also, at such an early ago, had the wherewithal to tell him that I’d never caught a dark star. He leaned over and asked me what night I was going. I was 13, and wasn’t allowed to see all 3 nights yet, so I replied the 1st and the 3rd. Then he said, “well lemme talk to the other guys and see what I can do for you.” No dark star in 93, but spring 94 opened at rosemont again and this was the first night of tour. 2nd to last dark star and it changed my life forever. I think I jumped 40 feet in the air. Here’s to the memories
