People in the comments don't understand what these lectures are about. PLENTY of videos made by the creators of GAEA and Celsium on doing the process they're talking about. There's no reason for them to remake and regurgitate a tutorial. If this intrigues you, now you go ahead and get those plugins and follow their tutorials. Simple.

Reviews and questions being so far in the roadmap is an insult to customers and sellers. Customers don't get to see reviews and if questions have been answered. Sellers don't get any sales because people don't want to spend money on something they're unsure even works properly. Literally nothing but downsides. Should've waited for this to be fully done before forcing it on everyone.

Hello Epic Games, I am very happy with the roadmap and the announced features. However, I have some points to address. As a seller it would be very nice to have more insights into my product page and how it performs. By this I mean features like simple analytics. For example it would be very useful to see how many people saw my product, how many people actually clicked on my product and how many people bought my product. A feature like this would enable me to optimize how I market my product, fix stuff that does not perform good and in general build a better revenue for my business. Another issue I personally see is the loss of quality of the published products (Sorry but that’s how I see it). This is my personal opinion and since I do not have any specific data you could name it an assumption, however when I browsed the old marketplace, I was feeling pretty save when it came to buying assets (mostly 3D environments). On FAB I see a lot of stuff where I ask myself how this even passed the quality check. When I started publishing on FAB I also tried uploading 3D assets (Now my products are mostly code plugins) but was denied because the packs were to small. Now I see products like „The Cube“ which are low to no effort as it is literally the default cube. This does not mean that everything on FAB is bad but you are never sure if the product you are buying really is functional since the quality needed to entrance the market seems to be fairly low. All in all the launch of FAB was harsh, but I believe if you keep listening to the community that FAB can still become a widely liked platform for game assets and other goods. Thanks!

Dear Epic, please listen to your audience, developers. We’re not just consumers. A lot of questions during this stream were not answered. And you dropped vital features when migrating to dev. At the very least, we shouldn’t have to lose the extreme value that we had in reviews, and questions and answers. I wish the FAB team success. The Marketplace was overdue for an upgrade, but currently, this is a downgrade with a reskin. I know dev isn’t easy, but I wish feature parity at least would’ve been maintained. Best of luck for the future. I hope the basic features we lost along the way are prioritized.

U guys setting all the store licenses to standard when a lot of us paid a premium (in terms of a professional license) before the launch for those assets (some being over 5+ yrs old) to now have to repay the same price is literal robbery.... and sellers wonder why their sales are low... to zero...
@imaginalex585013 сағат бұрын
Yeah, this one is the biggest highway robbery i've seen in years on the marketplace, this scheme is pretty disgusting, all assets bought prior to this change should be upgraded to professionnal licenses, i myself bought many templates and gaming systems upto 200 to sometimes 400 or even more $, now to find out that these assets are sometimes sold for the same price but as an updated "pro license" for the same cost most of the time, some of us have supported the marketplace for what is probably 4 or 5 if not close to 10 , 000 of $ individually as indie devs. Everything about Fab feels extremely anti consumer.
@lpnp947710 сағат бұрын
Can't you just buy the personal license? Every asset I view gives me the option. Nothing is enforced, so it seems. Given the terms of use are exactly the same, why wouldn't you just buy the personal license?
@Mr_Tea_Rexx10 сағат бұрын
@@lpnp9477 every asset that was purchased before the Fab launch got automatically converted to a standard license no matter the cost that was paid prior, which is the issue here, a lot of people including myself paid hundreds of dollars for one of these assets alone out of the library we have, with them now a standard license. which in their licensing once you go over the 100k revenue you then have to pay for that pro license (which is my understanding from this) which in turn is paying for the product twice because the standard license wasn't the original cost (being tons cheaper) and was the cost of the pro license of the fab store now. If that makes sense ? its so confusing and convoluted to explain im starting to confuse myself
@Mr_Tea_Rexx9 сағат бұрын
so nice having comments deleted..... to your question, no all got converted to a standard license no matter the cost that you paid previously on them, which is the issue here. cause some of them were in the hundreds of dollars in USD and when they got put on fab for a way cheaper price and the pro license being the cost of either what was paid on the marketplace or more depending on how much was originally paid on the unreal marketplace. if that makes sense ? trying to explain this has been so confusing and convoluted because people keep referencing to the licensing which i'm talking about the value and costs. You can even find the original marketplace stores on the prices on the way back machine. I haven't been able to upgrade any of my standard version and to be honest I don't want to due to having wasting so much money on the original costs.
@lpnp94772 сағат бұрын
@@Mr_Tea_RexxI see, you paid a higher price on UEM and the personal price now is lower. I can see why that would be frustrating. But one thing to note is that the terms of use are the same. Its the same product regardless of the price tier. And you don't have to rebuy the asset at a higher price again if your financial situation changes. So essentially nothing changes for you with the assets you already bought.

I don't know if you guys didn't have enough resources or what but this reminds me of giving presentations to the professor when first learning how to write software. "This is, uh a button... and when you hover it changes color! and uh, it opens a panel when you click it. Well the panel doesn't open yet but you can imagine it." You guys made an online store - great - but have done very little to tailor it to the specific needs of your customers or improve on what it is replacing. The goal of the website is to make it easy for customers to browse and purchase assets, not to just 'deliver a working website'. If Fab is supposed to replace Marketplace, Artstation, Sketchfab and Bridge then give it the dev resources that all of those things had combined. I don't know what the roadblock is here - I'm sure there are smart and talented people working on it - but it just feels like a generic corporate committee deliverable. Something custom written like this should be well tailored to the specific use cases but it still seems to be working on the 'being a functional online store' part. I would think this problem was hard but you have solo devs like Herobrine writing Orbital market and even illegal reseller sites by like some dude in Uzbekistan that manage to provide more features and an easier user experience than Fab, because at least they know what they're trying to make instead of reinventing the wheel. There's an amazing irony here in a storefront that sells code projects that doesn't work well because they're trying to write new code for problems that have already been solved a thousand times.

"we are making Megascans cost again because we want to be fair to other creators" uh, maybe the other creators should sell a better product then? This seems like a very disingenuous reason to charge for Megascans again. If you want money for the work just say so, we are developers, not children. I also agree with what others have said here, the first priority should be usability for developers to actually find and get the content we paid for. This other website discoverability stuff can wait.

Completely destroyed the old Marketplace (which had it's issues) and replaced it with something that barely works - which you must have known to begin with. I've legit been thinking about releasing products for the store and all the signs are telling me to not do it now.

Being honest, I hate it. Got to about the 10 minute mark(during the demo) and I will do my best to not use this. First thing is it needs to be fully integrated into the engine like Quixel Bridge. I don't want to juggle apps and switch back and forth. Also, what do you mean Megascans are free till the end of the year? I am not ever going to pay for assets that were originally free. I guess it is time to get better at modeling my own assets in Blender. Might be time to switch over to Godot as well. This just seems like Epic trying to more heavily monetize just like Unity did, but they hope it is in a more palatable way. Not gonna fly for me.

Hire a new UX director. Seriously. This is worse than what the hulu guys did to call of duty. And dont tell me "oh its so hard to unifiy various stores" its not. literally. AND THEN the fab plugin will use the brige like UI/UX . And btw, BY THE WAY, this is not hard to do. its a layout thing. :O i know right? fire that guy. he sucks at layouts.

I had my opinions as a software dev too. At the very least, when migrating a project, you don’t drop some of the most important features. Reviews, questions and answers meant everything when determining if you wanted to buy something, if it had issues, etc. now we don’t have that. FAB looks pretty good imo, but it frustrates the hell out of me that I can’t discuss an asset before purchase anymore. Emailing the developer in some cases may be an option still, but that just leads me away from the sales funnel. I don’t like it.

It's pretty clear at this point that supporting serious devs for UEFN isn't a priority for Epic, I wasted a lot of time and money developing tools and assets only to get buried by the algorithm and have no way to monetize anything except compete with 20 years olds cranking out meme games. They are just using UEFN to extend Fortnite's life and dogfood features that they will actually support in UE6. Beyond dissapointed
