Just watched an old PBS doc on this story...it's amazing how addicted the networks became to the fast ratings spikes the quiz shows produced. There was really no need to fix the game; they did it to ensure the strength of certain shows.

Probably felt like refusing to talk to him would look like he had some reason to worry about talking to him and would immediately point to his guilt. A lot of people seem to overestimate how good they'll be at lying to an investigator for exactly this reason lol

Great Movie. Ralph Fiennes is excellent as Charles Van Doren. Just think he was a psycho In Schindler’s List…what great versatility as an actor!!

@@RachelWeepingI totally agree! It is a work of art. Spotless direction by Robert Redford, an incredible cast (sublime Fiennes and Turturro), great story, soundtrack…it even has a cameo by Scorsesse. Definitely in my top 10 too and never get tired of watching it

Then spend 3 bucks to rent it. If you want it free, you have to accept the alterations that allow it to be posted online for free without getting immediately removed bc of copyright law. It's not hard to figure out.
