someone messed up bigtime installing that floor. wood needs space to expand and contract over the seasons.. unless you have a problem with the cold coming in the winter or leaking out in the summer, i would never fill the gaps.

Why did people go through such lengths to hide the real aspect of wood in the past, I keep wondering. Paint, varnish, carpet, vynil, linoleum, ... they aaaalways hide the prettiest wood. Why?

I did my own floors, very satisfying, but if I had known about this, I’d be much happier with the outcome. Mostly because the gaps are inconsistent and there is a lot of gouging damage.

Looks beautiful, also you can do Lime washing for Pine - it prevents that Orange colour developing which is awful.
