you should just add how many master degrees you need to cope with Houdini :) it is not just a node, it is a ton of nodes, nodes inside the nodes, parameters and programming which means your brain has to be a computer to understand and use it well :))

there is no 3D software better and more easily usable than Cinema 4D. It is the absolute King for general 3D usage, Max, Maya and Blender do not even come close to it. It is a true joy to use C4D after Blender and Max - the clunkiness of the latter two is 'amazing'.

@@Quick_VFX - well Houdini must be more pro in VFX. I just start touching VFX so not know much about it. Yet C4D is the general 3D package out there due to its intuitive, flowlike UI and menu system. Also capable in all general aspects of 3D designs.

The problem arises when geometry nodes in blender comes into play in my case, both are node base system and i don't know anything about geometry nodes, plus the simulations in houdini looks, perfect. I want to make the output 's I seen. one thng I hate in blender is, if you want to produce a good result in blender, buy a addon or do the tweaks in cloth by going up and down in the simulation menu. So I think it's perfect time to switch and learn. And if i able to learn in 2 years (intermediate level) then I can move over from blender to houdini slowly and permanently.

Yeah love it...Using it daily right now for sculpting..Houdini has no sculpt tools, that's its biggest problem by far
@bazibada
@bazibada 3 ай бұрын
It's absolutely not the same software. Houdini is used to make either complex simulations, then exported in .alembic to use in other DCC's like C4D, Maya, Blender, whater, or to craft complex procedural setups exported ad .hip files (like procedural building generator). I dare you to make in depth modeling, full product films including some mograph shots (even with MOPS), or a whole sequence of animated characters entirely in Houdini. It's then true that Houdini is on the rise for making the greatest 3D complex and organic shots and it's certainly one of the best tools to learn for 3D artists and 3D generalists. Houdini is absolutely an incredible software I would recommence everyone to learn, but comparing it directly to Cinema 4D is like comparing a modular synth to a DAW.

Will this work if I’m recording with a tripod meaning the footage is originally stable. I want to make it look like a naturally recording.
@Quick_VFX
@Quick_VFX 3 ай бұрын
Absolutely, using a tripod can achieve a stable shot, which is ideal if you're aiming for footage that doesn't have the handheld look. However, if you're looking to add some natural motion back into the scene, you could subtly animate a handheld camera effect in post-production using software like After Effects. By keyframing slight random movements or using an 'wiggle' expression, you can simulate the variability of a natural recording.

Houdinifx is very good at VFX, custom solution, sim, for motion graphic C4d is still the king
@Quick_VFX
@Quick_VFX 3 ай бұрын
HoudiniFX indeed has robust VFX capabilities, particularly for procedural generation and dynamic simulations. It's true that for motion graphics, Cinema 4D has a reputation for being more accessible, especially with its MoGraph toolkit. However, for custom simulations and VFX, Houdini's node-based workflow and VEX scripting allow for a high degree of customization that can be essential for complex scenes.

i recommend starting Houdini in 2003. failing that 2024 is good too.
@Quick_VFX
@Quick_VFX 3 ай бұрын
Starting with Houdini in 2003 would have given you a solid foundation in 3D content creation, as its procedural approach has always been ahead of its time. The 2024 version of Houdini continues to build on that legacy with even more advanced features for VFX and animation. It's important to stay updated with new releases as they often include performance optimizations and new tools that can enhance your workflow.
@isstuff
@isstuff 3 ай бұрын
I would say my edge as a 20 year houdini user is solid hda knowledge, how to nest and combine them to create tools a whole team can use to create a consistent effect across many shots. The other thing is low level polygon procedural tricks that focus on speed so you can do that millions of times and make new tricks. Also vops but the cool kids just write vex code.

Why there's such a demand for a Houdini TD ;)
@Quick_VFX
@Quick_VFX 3 ай бұрын
The demand for Houdini TDs (Technical Directors) has been growing due to the industry's increasing reliance on complex simulations and procedural workflows, which Houdini specializes in. Being a Houdini TD often means you're at the cutting-edge of VFX and animation, working on the most technically challenging aspects of production.
