I still have issues with the Countach pulling away from the Pontiac. If that were a 1973-74 Pontiac 455 Super Duty I’m not betting against the poncho. It had much higher torque than the Countach and if equipped with a manual transmission it was not getting left behind. And Pontiac was known at the time for under rating their HP numbers. Depending on where you look the poncho had a better 1320 time vs the Lambo.

The owner of Hawaiian Tropic was on the set when he saw the Countach. He bought the car afterwards. I think he was friends with Hal.

Isn't this what Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town is about? He sees you when you're sleeping And he knows when you're awake He knows if you've been bad or good So be good for goodness sake! How does he know all that, huh?? And, we all know how Rudolph became part of the team. But what about Bruce and Marvin? When, and how, did Santa find them?

I didn't think of this until now, but would this be like a Christmas version of a popular 80s song? Every breath you take And every move you make Every bond you break Every step you take Santa's watching you

30+ years ago, I heard a recording of an emergency call from, if I remember right, Peoria. This song had to come from this conversation. I remember that one of the radio stations made a skit from the same conversation. But, it left out quite a bit. The call started off with the caller yelling, "Send a man with a gun!" The dispatcher had this guy on the phone for close to 10 minutes. The dispatcher was very professional, but at one point had to put the guy on hold so he could laugh. Supposedly, the guy hit a deer with his car and was trying to get it into his car to take it to the vet. Uh, huh. The dogs that were chasing it didn't take too kindly at this interloper trying to take their deer. The guy got a tire iron from his trunk and chased the dogs off, then put the deer in the back seat of his Eldorado. Once he got the deer in, the dogs returned and bit him on his butt. He ran away and was holed up in a phone booth, where he had called the police department. All of a sudden, the guy's voice goes up about 4 octaves and he yells "send the man with a gun," again. The dispatcher asks what's going on. The guy is screaming that the deer just kicked the rear window of his Eldorado out. The dispatcher is trying to determine where the guy is located. This was pre-9-1-1. The guy was telling him he was near the "Fod dealer, near the 'Noco station." Finally, the dispatcher figures out it was a Chrysler dealership and sends help. Having some experience as a fire dispatcher, I have taken more than a few weird calls. So, this wasn't beyond believable.

Saw cannonball run when it first came out in 1981 when I was 12 years old. I was going to the movies with my then best friend. We were a couple of fanatics about the movies. We talked, read, ate, drank, and slept the movies. And we went to the movies together once a week, every week, from the 1970s-1980s. We saw literally hundreds upon hundreds of movies together. He always chose the movies we went to see. I didnt mind. I loved the movie theatergoing experience in itself. And after seeing our movie, we'd retreat back to his place to watch even more movies on his tv, whatever happened to be airing that afternoon and evening. We tried to see every new movie that came out regardless of the story, genre (he loved horror movies, I preferred comedies), critics reviews, or who starred in it. So, there was no particular reason we went to see Cannonball Run. It just happened to be one of the latest, newest releases to the theaters. It initially got bad reviews mostly, but when I saw it, the theater was packed, and the audience, my friend, and myself thoroughly enjoyed it, laughing all the way through. It's a real fun, crowd pleaser of a movie and was one of the biggest box office hits of the year. Going to the movies in the 1970s-1980s with my best friend is among my most fondest memories of not only my childhood, but my entire life.
