It's not that deep. Scuba diver in the 70s says its about 4m by the waterfall more or less. The lad didn't take into account that sonar uses sound to measure depth and sound travels 1500m/s in water but only 340m/s in air. Ie, if you have very turbulent air filled water like this it will look WAY deeper on sonar than it is due to that fact. It is very deep, but 4-10 meters.

If you think about it: Compare the width of the river before and after. Then the width of The Strid. The river turns over 90 degrees and is as deep as it was wide higher up.
