Larry isn't better athletically or skilled as MJ, however, he was more consistent around the perimeter. Michael has a 10-0 lead in Scoring Titles vs. Bird. That is just way too lopsided to say Larry was better than Jordan. Bird did have more rebounds (on average) and also assists. Larry probably made the other 4 players on the court better and also was a better teammate and leader. His points per game was 24.3 in the Regular Season and 23.8 in the Playoffs. Michael averaged 30.1 during the Regular Season and 33.4 in the Playoffs. I don't want to continue with the stats for MJ & Bird because I do no wish to upset the Larry Bird fans.

Possibly the top two players of all time, Larry and Mike, battling dozens of times. It doesn't get more epic than this. Even Mike said that Larry had no holes or weaknesses in his game.

Bird was 6'10" though he was listed as 6'9". But yeah Larry was on another level.

Now you know why Jordan considers Larry the greatest Small Forward of all time, he saw Bird in his prime and lost to him, getting swept twice in the first round no matter how hard he tried. All while watching Larry get his third title and 3peat the 3pt contest. He learned not just the game from Bird, he actively admits he learned mind games from Larry. This is why I have Jordan and Bird 1a/1b, Jordan is the GOAT, Larry is the GOATs GOAT.

Let me clarify something about Beastie Boys. Even til the end, they embraced all sorts of styles. Some tracks sounded "old school" even in the 2000's intentionally but are fire. 15 years from now, some young person is going to react to The Weekend and say "is this guy from the 80's? He's from the 80's."

I think if you put him on Jordans body could have been undisputed GOAT forever. To me hes the best MIND combined with purw shooter we've seen so far. Nut then again, this .ifht be controversial.to some...but white dudes have a DIFFERENT kind of strength. Some (Like Jokic and Luca) might liok like fatties, but are actually stronger than they look. I think Longley was like this. But most pale brothers tend to lack coordination and speed, athleticism, over about 6'2 .. Played many sports .. Found white guys have decieving strength to how they look. So With Birds DRIVE, I imagine it wasn't easy fighting him for boards and position.

The second game you watched from 1991 - that was the game that Reggie Lewis blocked Jordan's shot FOUR TIMES. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJqYc4KInp2Fmc0si=e2kqnquJ_evyM5mw (If you don't know Reggie Lewis, he was an up and coming star, an all-star in 1992. But he had a heart defect and died in 1993 at the age of 27. Sad story.)

In 1987-88, Jordan won his first MVP and Bird finished 2nd. It was Bird's last MVP caliber season, though. The 80's and 90's were really dominated by Bird, Magic and Jordan. I took a look and in the 19 seasons from Bird and Magic's rookies season in 1979-80 through Jordan's last championship with Chicago in 1997-98, Bird, Magic and Jordan combined for 14 championships and 11 MVP's.

You got a crazy keen eye for basketball. Yea at this point Mike was more athletic and raw but with a good touch, coordination, skill but Bird was on another level with the skill and fundamentals but BOTH skilled. Bird was top tier in ALL areas of basketball except for MAN defense, but he was decent at it. wasnt a top tier athlete either but top tier shooter, post play, iso, off ball (using screens), passer, rebounder, fundamentals like setting picks, HUSTLE, and TEAM defense. yea mike learned A LOT from Bird and will say so himself.

I think MJ might have been a better passer than he is given credit for but he was known as a ball hog so it's hard to tell. Other than clutch shots, I believe Bird enjoyed passing as much as shooting. Just my thoughts, though. Great reaction - thank you.

MJ must have had a mental block when it came to Magic and Bird because it took quite a few years (when Magic retired and Bird was broken down) for him to come into his own. That's one thing I will put them over on MJ - the day those guys hit the league they took over. Not so with MJ. Regardless, they are all great.
