Wow the most aesthetically pleasing ikea kitchen makeover on KZbin. But waaaay too much work for me, a full time mom. I am not that handy… I already bought a second hand IKEA kitchen and I plan to just peel and stick and put a water pump… this already seems overwhelming to me. Wish me luck.

Does it look blotchy in person, too? Because in the video looks very uneven.

How did you render the kitchen as an illustration? The green color is gorgous.

Very sweet. This is the daunting part: will it work?! I appreciate the comments on trying different finishes. Also, I have the impression that overall this took a week or two (with drying times). That is important to remember also from a practical standpoint. Thanks again.

Do we have to remove flooring to put it in a bench? We have tile and I don't want to remove it
@LittleReesorHouse
@LittleReesorHouse 10 ай бұрын
Hi there! Removing the floor is definitely not necessary. The reason I did is because we know we will be replacing this floor in the future and I wanted to save the headache of removal later. If you don’t plan to replace your floors, by all means, you can build right on top.

Beautiful job.👍. I love the finished product. Have an old dinning room table that was left at the house our daughter bought. I’ve built some furniture but I want so badly to restore this one. Thanks for the tips. Will let you know how it turns out.

This little kitchen and all the details you did was the most beautiful little kitchen I’ve seen. So nice to see and hear a fellow Canadian do a work around that was affordable as the shipping is ridiculous or options are limited.

Finally...someone with a video using faux stone...thank you! I'm just now beginning to fill in with mortar...well kinda. We ended up buying premixed/ready grout and i'm not sure if it would be better to switch to mortar before i get any further. I saw a video with someone that used the grout but her creases between the stones was minimal at best. I think my biggest question is was the mortar easy to remove from the very porous faux stones or did you have to do some real scrubbing? Thanks for your help!

I was going for an over-grouted look, so I didn't try to remove it from the stones very much. I think if you really work at it and keep refreshing your water, you could remove most of it from the stones. I'd love to hear how your fireplace turns out!

Wow! Good for you - that sounds like a huge undertaking! I'm not sure I'd tackle the stone again (what a project!), but I'm glad I tried it. A fireplace makes any space feel so cozy.

Did you trim the edge band afterwards? I have a similar bench but in L shape. I think the storage is somewhat useless since you need to remove everything on the top to open it. Every time I open the bench top I see the unfinished inside feel bad putting things in there. The hinge looks bad when showing on top. I know this piano hinge is a cheap and easy solution but I didn't really like mine at all. It looks cheap and intruding. I'm currently replacing the bench with solid top and built-in drawers.

I sanded the edge band to make it flush with the edge of the plywood. I've never regretted not finishing the interior of our bench, but could definitely still do it now if I wanted to. I only store things I rarely use (ie. party drink dispenser, puzzles, etc), but could see how it would be annoying if you're regularly accessing the contents. I love the idea of built-in drawers and would love to hear how yours turns out :)

It looks alright from a distance but up close very rough. Not really sure you’d want this as a bedside cabinet. Something in a corner to decorate.

Yes, I specifically gave it that rough texture using the spackle to try and mimic the look of plaster - rough is exactly what I was going for! 👍🏼
