Wait that's just an import bond permitting it to enter the Bahamas and leaving the country with you and you're not selling it. BUT is that also a permit from the Film Office and Ministry of Aviation to operate a remote aircraft? ...and I film tours around the world for a living for...shit 30 years now? We do drone and heli aerials everywhere. Customs and MCA jurisdiction is border and commerce. Laws on flying remote aircraft in a foreign country without approval is a whole other branch of government. If you're a tourist and you sneak it in or legally import and fly it for "recreation" and anything ancient-related happens...yikes. Permit wise, depending on the country, the tourism authorities typically only allow for professional operations not recreational, often by operators with a FAA Part 7 which a growing number of international aviation authorities require as proof of competency. Plus they want a US drone registration so they can track it with their access, plus a planned itinerary of locations..AND often a foreign productions remote aerial insurance rider. Or as listed on BCA website: Permit Requirements for Flying a Drone in the Bahamas A permit is required for any drone use in the Bahamas, regardless of whether it is for recreational or commercial use. If you are traveling to the Bahamas and want to get a permit to fly your drone, contact Gregory Edwards (info provided below) for all the required paperwork. You will need to provide the following information: The dates of your visit Drone model and serial number A copy of the registration certificate from your country (for example, an FAA certificate) After approval, you will receive an an email with an official letter of issuance, which will include detailed rules and regulations, that is valid for 30 days. Once you receive your authorization letter, make sure to have it on hand to present at customs. Bottom line, no matter what anyone says it's a crap shoot. They don't distinguish between a Phantom or a Heavy Octo. Customs confiscation, bonding or import duty is not the worry. It's the liability in a foreign nation. Friend of mine last year got caught flying over Mayan Ruins. Was arrested, released but holding his passport and had to stay in the country for a few extra days until a 5,000USD fine was wired. He called the US embassy and they told him to post the damn fine and feel lucky they were that lenient. Just sayin.
