Love the video. How much was the bike in Calgary out the door? They think they are made of gold on the east coast. Everyone seems to prefer the 250FX, but I've heard the FX has a snatchy throttle which I really don't like on a dirtbike in the woods. I think I would prefer the KTM. Thanks!

If you look at the McLean Creek HS video, the leader and I go back and forth. I catch him on a climb and he is spewing coolant... Mine is fine. Later in the race I screwed up a climb and had a touch but it cooled quickly. All depends on how much energy you are feeding through the clutch when you are slipping the clutch.

Great review. curious - what do you feel are the limitations of a 250/300 2t? considering a 250f myself for racing BCORCS
@7thirtyseven Жыл бұрын
I'll be super honest... The limitations of any bike are between my ears! I am faster on the newer 250 fs overall. The 250/300 2t have a definite advantage when you are in very technical situations but those are really rare in races outside of hard Enduro stuff. I have repeatedly dragged/raced 300s and found that as long as I'm willing to be aggressive I don't loose out, and am pretty much guaranteed to win unless conditions are mint. The 250f requires you to use a broader rpm range than a 300 but that is also one of its bonuses. It's good enough for Josep Garcia!!!
@7thirtyseven Жыл бұрын
One of the limitations of the 250/300 2t is the breadth of usable power. For the races we do, there are a lot of straights that are a gear and a half, you either change gears or you stay at the speed the gear gives you. If you change gears you add to the complexity of the next corners entrance and exit. The 4t on the other hand you just Rev farther and don't need to shift. While each straight and corner combo may be only a little time there are so many of them they start to add up to a lot of time for a weekend warrior like myself. I also have found that it makes my cornering much more consistent. This is only valid with the assumption that you can accelerate out of the corner as fast on the 250f. The numbers say it shouldn't... in practice under the conditions of a race, traction and control, it does. You can get on the gas earlier, pointed in the right direction way more consistently. This of course, is unique to the individual but at my level I suspect it's fairly universal.

Sweet terrain brother! What are your suspension clickers set at? Forks and shock. I have a 2022 xcf and finding it a little difficult to dial it in for rock riding.
@7thirtyseven2 жыл бұрын
Ya the 23 is significantly better suspension. The new frame helps the front work nicer. On my 22 300XC I had my pressure at 142-144, rebound 1 click off and compression about 4clicks softer. I also backed the high-speed compression on the rear off about 1/3, it helped the rear hitting roots and rocks trying to keep traction. Hope that helps
@F-Phrygian2 жыл бұрын
Some good riding terrain there….nice, that little thumper is chewing it up. The W model may be a bit better suited for that kind of riding, but the XC can hang too….no prob. Old guys rule🏆

Great riding. Congrats on the new bike. Can’t decide between the XC or the FX. How do the valves hold up on the KTM ? I think that the KTM is lighter too. I know the valve’s last on the FX , do the KTM last as long?
@7thirtyseven2 жыл бұрын
They are fine. KTM revs higher so that will impact valve life, but there arn't many that ride these bikes on the rev limit. KTM gained some weight this year and it can't match the reputation of the Yamaha, which seems feel right to almost everyone.
