It is not a reaction between tow compounds but it a reaction between water and ammonium nitrate because barium hydroxide is hygroscopic

We didn't see the female Presenter but I doubt she was in full Leaded X-ray PPE.....All unprotected Unshielded X-ray exposure is DNA damaging to Some degree & you Statistically roll the dice as to what accumulated radiation exposure trip point Your specific genetic makeup can tolerate before things get medically Irreversibly affected.....Far better to guess on the extreme safe side especially during these Unmeasured uncontrolled unpredictable exposure demos.....

Due to the considerable decrease in volume, I’m assuming this process has a negative entropy associated with it. Would that be correct? Perhaps offset thermodynamically by an exotherm from the increase in hydrogen bonding?

Hydrogen only combusts when oxygen is present. In a discharge tube thingy, only hydrogen is present. Therefore, the reaction cannot take place.

@@Finland-1717 That's not entirely true... there is still the metal conductors and the glass. Hydrogen can react with those if you heat it up enough (happens where the discharge touches the metal). That's why noble gas tubes last much longer... they don't slowly corrode the contacts.
