Honestly, this performance ruined the album version for me. It feels so much more emotional and organic live. And being able to see everyone and really feel how much they love playing together is just magic.

I love these guys. Saw them so many times. I took my 14 year old neice to the beach was playing this song 🎵 they made up leave said all these kids don't need to hear this. I kelp playing it all the way as we drove away.

It's like a prayer... at some point not just music, but the spoken word of a being that can sing with their hearts. It feels like calling home, and after the dread and jaded longing, hearing the mother say hello. It feels like running into a memory, hurrying on it's way to the future and remembering what love is, in all it's sudden cherish and sorrow. It breaks my worldly stupor, lifts my arm, and feels what's to come from the open door.

This has been of my Eighties albums still in my personal rotation! This was part of my daughter's home soundtrack since they were children! They took it to college, and likely shattered some of their friends. LOL!

My introduction to the LP was in my friend's mom's car, driving us home from the beach. I was maybe 10 years old and this track and "Confessions", in particular, had me absolutely mesmerized. The cassette sleeve was equally intriguing, with its crumbled environments and the mysterious little girl inhabiting them. When we got back to the city I begged my parents to take me to A&B Sound and buy me the CD - thankfully they obliged, and all 12 of those songs are now permanently etched into my psyche. Violent Femmes have always been a "real ones know" group in my book. They were so peculiar, so intense, so "out there". And that self-titled debut is still - pound-for-pound - one of the best records I've ever heard.
