What a tremendous clip, thank you for posting. I love how fast they play it. They were right in their prime. And yes, Brian Ritchie is simply other-wordly. Dude thinks right through his bass.

Wow... Love it! Crazy as it is, my old roommate from years and years ago was married by Gordon's dad. I didn't believe him for years until his Mom visited from Wisconsin and talked about it... Miss you John! Godspeed!

This has been of my Eighties albums still in my personal rotation! This was part of my daughter's home soundtrack since they were children! They took it to college, and likely shattered some of their friends. LOL!

My introduction to the LP was in my friend's mom's car, driving us home from the beach. I was maybe 10 years old and this track and "Confessions", in particular, had me absolutely mesmerized. The cassette sleeve was equally intriguing, with its crumbled environments and the mysterious little girl inhabiting them. When we got back to the city I begged my parents to take me to A&B Sound and buy me the CD - thankfully they obliged, and all 12 of those songs are now permanently etched into my psyche. Violent Femmes have always been a "real ones know" group in my book. They were so peculiar, so intense, so "out there". And that self-titled debut is still - pound-for-pound - one of the best records I've ever heard.

THese guys are very talented. Just makes me wonder if theyouwoulda came out in the 90's would they made it bigger? Just seems like These guys were trailblazers for the alt rock scene. If the trail woulda been there already, theyd gone lightyears further. Anyway Dont know quite where to post this, but take it as a request for whoever reads it. Make "add it up" as an AMV for the new "Hellsing Ultimate OAV" thats out. There's a few lines in this song that really paint scenes from the amv.

Day after day I will walk and I will play But the day after today I will stop and I will start Why can't I get just one kiss Why can't I get just one kiss Believe me, there'd be somethings that I wouldn't miss But I look at your pants and I need a kiss Why can't I get just one screw Why can't I get just one screw Believe me, I know what to do But something won't let me make love to you Why can't I get just one fuck Why can't I get just one fuck I guess it got something to do with luck But I waited my whole life for just one Day after day I get angry and I will say That the day is in my sight When I'll take a bow and say goodnight Oh, ma-mama, mama-mo-ma-mum Have you kept your eye, your eye on your son? I know you've had problems, you're not the only one When your sugar left, he left you on the run Oh, ma-mama, mama-mo-ma-mum Take a look now at what your boy has done He's walking around like he's number one Went downtown and you got him a gun So don't shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me Don't shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me You know you've got my sympathy But don't shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me Don't shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me Don't shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me You know you've got my sympathy But don't shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me Broken down kitchen at the top of the stairs Can I mix in with your affairs? Share a smoke, make a joke Grasp and reach for a leg of hope Words to memorize, words hypnotize Words make my mouth exercise Words all failed the magic prize Nothing I can say when I'm in your thighs Oh, ma-mama, mo-ma, mo-my mother I would love to love you, lover City is restless, it's ready to pounce Oh, here in your bedroom, ounce for ounce Say, ma-mama, mo-ma, mo-my mother I would love to love you, lover City is restless, it's ready to pounce Oh, here in your bedroom, ounce for ounce I've given you a decision to make Things to lose, things to take Just as she's about ready to cut it up She says, "wait a minute, honey, I'm gonna add it up!" Add it up! Add it up! Add it up! Add it up! Add it up! Add it up! Add it up! Add it up! Day after day, I get angry and I will say That the day is in my sight When I'll take a bow and say goodnight. Goodnight.
