The Manzer is warmer than the Ibanez, however if you put the Lollar in the Ibanez would they sound the same?

Much prefer the Manzer, but I bet the Ibanez could be tweaked. Your "full tone and volume" comparison makes it fair, though. Nice playing!

Lots of fantastic players of instruments out there but only a few of them are musicians. Being able to play an instrument and being able to play music are two different things.

Great playing as always, belated best wishes! And thanks for the factful demo. I own 2 Ibanez guitars: a GB10SEFM (all maple) and an AS113 (similar to a John Scofield model but with a spruce top). The quality of these "cheap" guitars is amazing. I thought of buying another GB10SE so I can keep one at home and the other one in the studio but now I'm considering this one... Regards from Vienna AT!

Hello. I can't find Keith Lowe's KZbin channel. Has it been deleted? If so, that's a shame. I want to hear his mesmerizing playing again. Can you tell me what happened to Keith Lowe's channel?

It would be interesting to understand which of the two pickups is more faithful to the original, but you would need to have access to a guitar that mounts an "original" Charlie Christian pickup and be able to make a comparison video.

I agree the Ibanez sound very nice but far from the unique, woody depth of the Manzer. The question for many, is it worth the price. I say that if you can afford a fine handcrafted guitar like this Manzer, go for it! The feel and sound of a beautifully handcrafted guitar is quite the experience you can do over and over again.

Hi Tim, would consider making comparison of the acoustic sound of the two? Cheers!
@TimLerchGuitarКүн бұрын
I probably won’t do that because it’s certainly would not be fair. A solid carved top guitar with a wooden bridge compared to a laminate guitar with a metal bridge. It’s just apples and oranges and I don’t think it would be very enlightening.

To me it seems like you can hear much of the acoustic element on the Manzer. Both sound great... the PM has that nice warm and a bit subdued jazzy muted attack. Manzer sounds warm too but there´s a slight crispness on the note that breathes and has an acoustic airiness

I was wondering---- how would you classify the output (loudness) of the CC pickup on this guitar? Vintage, modern, somewhere in between?
@Kruser_752 күн бұрын
Mr Lerch, Sorry for being crass but if a turd had strings, you’d make it sound just as good as either one of these guitars. Thank you for another great video.

It looks like is fairly easy to change out the ceramic magnets in the ibanez. I wonder how they would compare if the stock ibanez cc had alnico 5s or 2s instead of those ceramics?

No question a clear difference. Both tones are lovely and very usable. But the Manzer immediately identifies itself as an archtop, even thru a tiny phone speaker. Lots of warmth and overtones. Sound is more complex That said, I would take the Ibanez out on a gig any day and would not have to feel paranoid when anyone got within3 feet of the guitar It reminds me of the functionality of Comins or Loar or other Eastman built guitars that usually play above their Price point

Great video and great playing as always. No "better" guitra here.....just different. Both guitars have also a different sound (of course) of other laminated or carved top instruments. Personnally the ES-350, or ES-175 have the sound that i like the most. But there is one more thing: sometime a guitar have a great "single note" tone but when you play chords (especially with lot of alterations/extensions....) the result is so-and-so.....and viceversa. In my opinion olny full carved-top guitars are good for single-notes lines AND chords.....in other words the Gibson L-5 is the Queen of the Jazz boxes. Grazie mille per il bellissimo video!

If you put that Lollar in the Ibanez, I bet there would be virtually no difference.

Hi Tim. In your opinion how much of the sound difference comes from the body of the guitar and how much from the Pickups. Thank’s for the nice comparison.

The Ibanez sounds quite thin in comparison ...but it also 'sounds' so much easier to play, I wonder if that's actually the case.

Both are fine, but to my ears, the Manzer is louder, has more clarity, round/sweet upper freq, while the Ibanez sounded a bit muffled, warm, polite/quiet upper freq.

What can be more fun than watching a Tim Lerch video? Watching TWO Tim Lerch videos at the same time! My vote is for the Linda Manzer guitar. The tone is more bell like and just sounds more like mellow jazz. No knock on the Ibanez it sounds good, too. I own 3 different Ibanez guitars, Love them. So easy to play.

I wonder how much of a tone improvement the lollar pickup would be... No doubt the Manzer is going to better but I wonder if you could get closer with the same pickup. I feel like this is going to be expensive experiment for me🤓

Its crazy how much alive the Manzer sounds, the Ibanez has a very clasic warm jazz sound, but the notes on the Manzer pop inmediately! Super acoustic sound.
