50 years ago, a friend of mine from Chattanooga who attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo, transfered to Tennessee Institute of Technology. I visited her and had a fine time. Met a friend of hers whose father was a nuclear physicist at Oak Ridge. Most paranoid person I ever met.

Love California and just brought a beatiful home for cash in San Diego. Lived in Texas, Georgia, Fliorida, and New Yeok they can have those states.Violent crime is the worst in the South. Just look at the data. Worst then California. There is no state as diverse or beautiful as California. If you indeed are working class yes California is tough but this is a national probelm and not a state probelm.The working class thinks under Trump they will be better lol No I will be better if he cuts the federal tax rate for people like me who are very well off..If you think you better off in terms of health, education,property taxes and quality of life or crime, services or crime .You will be in for a shock if you move to the South. Now if you wealthy and you want to hold keep more money in your pocket moving to those states makes sense since you will be gated and isolated from the vast masses of working class people barely going from paycheck to paycheck no different then Califonia. What these people are really talking about are those who are well off. Culturally I prefer California and yes will pay more for a better education, better health care and quality of life. Yes I do not live from pay check to pay check.Yes I have both an electric car and ICE car and solar panels so gas or electricity is not an issue. California incentiveives these things but Georgia, Texas, Florida or New York good luck.

The idea that Californians are moving out of state is a misnomer. Native Californians are staying home, its the transplants who moved here for 3 years and realized they cannot make it who are moving back to their homes. Whenever I meet someone out of state who says they moved from California because of whatever reason, I always ask where they went to high school in California. The usual answer I get is "I didn't go to high school in California...I moved there for a couple years and didn't like it so I moved here." Those are not Californians, those are transplants from other states who are moving back home. Unless you grow up in California you really don't understand our culture and way of life. You can try to adopt it and try to become Californian but you will always be an outsider. Same for me if I moved to Texas. I may live there, but I didn't grow up there so it would crazy to call myself a Texan. For as long as I can remember, people have always moved to California. We welcome everyone. We have more rights and freedom in California so why would we leave? I think the hard part for the rest of the country to wrap their heads around is, we in California never think about the rest of the country. Ask anyone and they will tell you, we never think about the other states. We know we don't really have anything in common with most states (Save Mass, NY, DC) so why do we care if Florida wants to ban abortion? If Texas wants to imprison women for having an abortion? If Alabama wants to have Christian be the state religion. None of it has anything to do with us, so we don't care. I think its only a matter of time before the state of California just succeeds from the union and becomes its own country. We really have no need to be apart of the US anymore. We have the largest population, largest economy, largest agriculture, direct trade route with Asia and Mexico, Silicon Valley, Wine industry, movie industry, etc. Why should we be partnered with Alabama or Texas? We have nothing in common.

The issues is not crime or plitics is mainly economics. There are still many people moving to California.In fact many people that moved to Texas from California are moving back. Lets not suger coat it cost is a big factor in housing.There are a bunch of idiots here. Ilived in Texas, Georgia and Montana and they can have it. These morons saying they love Trump says everything. If you think Califrnia is a mess check out Texas just as bad as California but housing is cheaper for sure other things are pretty bad. Trump is a good business man lol Talkng about 1984 war is peace. Now he is good for the rich for sure. Now saying that Republicans and Democrats are corrupt. Hopefully Trump makes it more affordable for the working class......not guaranteed Wall street is not main street.

Not only the access to public lands and diversity of beautiful lands but the obvious higher overall education level. Or maybe it's just the average IQ. But also the personal freedoms in California. Texas likes to make laws which control people and take away personal freedoms. It sucks living in Texas.

@@jtlathe I retired out of Texas in 2022 when I was in the military. We thought like most Texas was cheaper and it would be great to raise our kids there...oh how we were wrong. We sold and moved back. Best decision we made. Our kids are thriving in the local schools. So much to do. And the diversity of people is refreshing.
