Would be interested to know more about the grease nipple mod for the steering head bearings.
@Leafster19732 ай бұрын
Quite straightforward, drilled the steering tube to take in an M5 thread, and inserted a grease nipple. Then pump grease into the steering tube, the first try, will take a lot of grease as the tube will need to be filled, keep pumping until grease starts to come out of the steering bearings.

55'000km now, no issues, zero, 2020 Bs4 model Edit: My bike was owned by a less active rider for the first 3 years and 16'000km in the last 9 months i ve done 39'000km and realized they had overheard the rear brake recall this bike was a member off i had that done, but the rear brake was fine without it, too. just to be safe. Since owning the bike, i run YSS rear shock, stiffer springs on the front, the stage 2 air filter kit, a low zard exhaust and an idle adjust to 1100rpm. EBC brake discs front and rear and sintered pads, a single HPE REGINA 525 chain and a set of steel sprockets for 40'000km, still fine. I ride every day in every weather, -8 to +40°C

@Leafster19737 ай бұрын
Open intake plate, with a hiflo oiled foam filter. I didn't I have the usual plastic sheet wedged down the front side of the airbox. So I think water has gushed down the side and into the air intake. I've since done another wet ride with the plastic sheet and no water ingress. The foam filter worked very well.

Welding an extra piece on to the Lextek baffle is a great idea, I might do the same to mine. Interested to know how the sound changed. From your comments, it seems it's certainly worthwhile doing. I would also prefer mineto be quieter, but still have that nice deeper sound. plus, as you say, the massive weight saving. Cheers for the video...Jon👍

Were you not supposed to use stiffer springs too? Once you drill the extra holes the stock springs are likely to become too soft.
@Roadrocket197311 ай бұрын
No, as the valves control the compression damping not the preload. I have fitted stiffer springs because I'm on the heavy side. But if anything the valves increase the stiffness and reduce the softness of the damping especially on rough roads.

Mine used to misfire in the wet especially after jet washing. Turns out it was a loose HT lead in the spark plug cap..I've since sleeved the entire HT lead and plug cap in a rubber tube, and it's never misfired since. Even in torrential rain and being almost submerged off road. Loose connector's are easy to fix. Waterproof all the connectors helps too. Lead Acid batteries only for me.. can't jump start lithium. The new 452 looks cool too, hoping to see it at Motorcycle Live

Very down to earth..pun intended. Better contact with the early 😊. I have a sprint 955 and wanting to do the same. Thanks I learnt something watching this.. the Rod holder m8 shaft. Not sure what to use for the 5mm ends but I'll find something. Good info about the 8mm holes. I agree about making the emulators adjustable but you'd have to perhaps cut a lug and groove into the spacer and emulator 😮 to stop it turning as the detents would cause bit to rotate instead of adjust. Given these bikes take pillion and or luggage, the load on the suspension can change markedly and I'm not sure preload is the only adjustment you'd then need to make.. Anyway I learned a few good tricks. Thanks. Subscribed
