Thanks. I checked a couple of websites and videos and it was all about fancy formulas. Now this is the most hands-on thing that makes sense and I will try this for my next sound reinforcement situation. Note that some subs have a cardoid system built-in, there's some by QSC, and the d&b y series subs do have it. However, the method in your video should work with any less-expensive subs, given you have 3 of them that are the same.

Nice video. That's a good idea for solo fitment, apart from the hard to reach mounting brackets. Do you have a ballpark figure for the weight of your tent? And do you have any ideas on solo removal/dismount (without a hoist)? I'm having some corrosion issues with my roof rack, but now I have to dismount my tent before I can get the roof rack treated.

It weighs about 180 lbs. Since this video, I now store it in the barn with a harken hoist. If you have to take it off solo, depending on the vehicle, you can probably just slide it off the rear onto the ground, with a moving blanket or something to protect the car during the process. I'd recommend inviting a friend over to help.

Great video! Demonstrating that not all installations are as cut and dry as the manufacturer claims. I needed to use the spacers as well, however to avoid any twisting, I went with 3/8" thick starboard cut to full length and width of the mount. Using my router to router the adjustment slots in the starboard and then drilling through the 1×2" aluminum cross members. A little more fiddling around than what I would have liked but was required to clear my snorkel and allow for headroom. Watching your video first got me on the right track. Thanks, enjoy the awning and great outdoors. 🍻

Did you need help installing the awning itself after mounting the brackets? If you didn't, how did you support the awning while installing the bolts from the mounting brackets to the back of the awning? I have a 2005 4Runner and I just got the awning but haven't had time yet for the install. Great helpful video. I don't have a roof top tent.

The tent comes on a pallet with braces that hold it upright. After unboxing everything, I laid it down on a dolly to open and make sure everything was in order. I then tilted it back up on the pallet and tied it on using ratchet straps. Here’s where the cheating started… I used my tractor with pallet forks to lift it up to the top of my truck rack, got in the bed of the truck and removed the straps, then laid it down. Couldn’t have been easier!

I’m curious about this. I have 2 - KW 181s. My mixing board does not have the capability to delay the signal. I have two questions I guess. 1. What is the cheapest way to create a delay? For instance is there an affordable rack mount or simple in-line box that could be edit? 2. Wouldn’t keeping all the polarities the same and delaying the front firing speakers accomplish the same effect?

How do you properly set up the sub group for drums, vocals, etc…?
@thada7070
@thada7070 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video! Impressed with your setup. You mentioned that your DCAs control the groups instead of the inputs (so that adjusting the DCAs doesn't throw off the parallel compression taking place at the group level). That approach appeals to me, but I'm stuck on something: How do make your DCA moves still affect FX levels with this set up? Assuming your FX sends are post-fader, then DCAs controlling inputs also control how much of those inputs are sent through FX, but DCAs controlling groups don't affect how much of the inputs go through FX. With DCAs controlling groups, how do you make it so that you don't keep hearing drums or vocals FX when you pull their group DCA fader is down? The only two ways I can think of are to either send the groups to the FX instead of sending the inputs, or have your DCAs also control the corresponding FX send (e.g. drums DCA includes drum groups and drum FX send(s)).
@streams76
@streams76 Жыл бұрын
Typically, if I’m mixing with DCAs, any level adjustments I make are going to be minute, so effects aren’t affected significantly. If I need to make a more drastic adjustment, I will go straight to the channel fader or mute group.

@@streams76 hm very interesting. I have a 4th gen like you and have the ovs 180. Currently at the height it is mounted I cannot open the awning all the way w the hatch open. The awning bits the hatch. I am going to put spacers and raise the awning higher which should then clear the hatch. The hatch will open just under the awning bar.
@joshuakim5905
@joshuakim5905 2 жыл бұрын
looking at your build some more it looks like it is ok possibly bc your awning is pushed pretty far out from your roof. I put spacers to lift up the awning a little and it still hits the rear hatch. I am going to try to push it out some to see how that works out :)

It’s pretty ridiculous today for a console manufacturer to regard dynamic EQ and multiband Dynamics as ‘special processes’ only available in a limited quantity. DSP needs to be scaled up in all digital mixers to accommodate each in every path. It’s a marketing myth that this is a problem for them.
@artysanmobile
@artysanmobile 2 жыл бұрын
Though I have somehow never seen an Avantis in person, I am really impressed with the design as shown here. Clarity and ergonomics are a collective imperative for me in a digital console, exemplified perfectly by the SSL. Allen & Heath seem to have adhered strictly to these rules in the control layout and display appearance, as much as I can see just watching your layout demo. Many of the top makers (looking at you Yamaha!) have badly dropped the ball, choosing to reinvent the wheel and making an unintuitive mess instead. I was a major fan of Yamaha in the past but no more. I’ll be checking the Avantis closely with the hope of another option to specify. Great video, btw.
